November 28, Thanksgiving Day

Here at our house . . . 

The boys and I are snuggled in for a cozy day.  We’ve had rain all week which I think is odd for southeastern Arizona.  It’s damp and cold, well, damp and cold for high desert, that is.

I realize some of you are experiencing frigid weather, maybe even a white Thanksgiving.  I hope you are safe on the roads and wherever you are for the holiday weekend.

It’s still raining as I type this.  I’m not complaining!  It seems we’re making up for the little bit of rain we got from monsoon season.

Rain is problematic for the crew. 

Reggie and Roger peek timidly out the door, appraise the situation, and then retreat to the warm nests they’ve created in the blankets. 

Bless their hearts . . . .  They wait until they can’t hold it any longer.

When desperation sets in, I let them out and off they hop and skittle through the mud and raindrops to do their business.  Without delay they return to the porch.  After a good, full-body shake, they dart through the open door.

“Good job!”  I exclaim twirling as my two sweeties dance around my legs in happy relief.

This is thankfulness at its most elemental level.  

This morning I bop around the internet.

I look for Thanksgiving messages for you.

Hmmm . . . . warm?  cute? snappy?  clever? profound?  Oh, there are too many to choose from!
