The photos in this post are a collection taken while the crew and I strolled around our previous camp at Quail Ridge RV Park, Huachuca City, Arizona. The photos show how year-round and snowbird residents beautify their lots.
I hope the pics aren’t confusing as I share recent developments in the life of Reggie, Roger, and me.

First, a few words in preparation for the announcement. (No jumping ahead allowed!)
My blog is about my life with crew.
I try to be honest with my posts, while at the same time protecting my privacy. Over the past seven years I think I’ve given my readers a pretty thorough idea of what it is like to be a solo, full-time RVer who travels with dogs. I’ve shared a lot!
Several months ago, I started holding back. Longtime readers may have noticed a subtle change. I didn’t post as often, yet it didn’t seem that I was terribly busy. It looked like I had plenty of time to put together blog posts.
Actually, I’ve been much busier than it appears on this blog.
Let me explain . . .
I am blessed with two sisters: My “big” sister Pauline (3 years older) who lives in Mississippi, and my “little” sister Nancy (5 years younger) who lives in Florida.
When Nancy and I both lived in New York State in our early twenties, we were young marrieds and visited each other often. Then I moved to Florida, we became consumed with our own lives, and drifted apart. Not an uncommon occurrence between family members separated by many miles. With the advent of email, we did send a note now and then.
But it’s not the same as hanging around together at the kitchen table.
After several years, Nancy lives in Florida and I live in Georgia. We enjoy a brief reunion at her apartment in Florida during Fourth of July weekend, 2011. (That post at the link includes photos of Nancy’s West Highland Terrier, Margaret or “Marg.”)
Then our lives separate again. I go west and start the vagabonding lifestyle with my crew.
Several months ago Nancy expresses in an email her concern about retirement. The city in which she lives and is employed is very expensive.
“I’ll have to work until my dying day!” she lamented.
“Come out west!” I replied. “You will be amazed how much lower the cost of living. I love it!”
Nancy warms to the idea.
She doesn’t respond right away. A few emails later, she suggests, “Maybe we could live together and share expenses?”
With emails flying back and forth, a vision of a shared future comes into focus.
During the months that follow, we devise a plan.
We consider several options until the best path becomes clear. We decide to pool our resources and buy a house!
We develop a checklist of what the property must have and the search begins.
Fast forward . . .
I’m sitting in our house as I type this! The closing was yesterday, poignantly the birthday of our late mother.
Nancy is still working in Florida and will move here at the end of summer after she retires. She’ll bring her furniture and Marg.
In the meantime . . .
I’ll get the house ready, supervising repairs and upgrades, watering plants, painting and puttering. Since there’s no furniture here, the boys and I will keep on living in the Best Little Trailer, backyard camping.
Whenever I get the urge, I’ll hitch up the BLT and the crew and I will go somewhere. And when Nancy is here, we’ll go on day trips together. Nancy will leave the house at times to visit her children and grandchildren. I’ll come and go, mixing vagabonding with home.

The house is perfect for us!
The yard is big with a fence going all around the property. Not only that, it has trees and birds and places for flowers and a shower and a tub and a front porch and a partially enclosed patio in the back, sheltered from the wind where one can griddle, griddle, griddle!
Funny thing. . . .
After the closing and final walk-through, I say goodbye to the realtor and go into the bathroom. After using “the facility,” I stand, turn, and lift my foot to flush.
Oh for heaven’s sake, this is one of those fancy toilets where you press a handle to flush. There’s no foot pedal!
Reggie and Roger are familiar with the property from visiting with me several times as we progressed from making an offer to final walk-through. They love the yard and they think they’re particularly clever that they can run completely around the house and surprise me from a different direction!
Does this mean I give up my life as happy boondocker?
No, I love it too much to stop. I’ll talk more about that in future posts.
As my life goes through changes, so does the blog. That’s the way it is. My life doesn’t follow the blog, the blog follows my life. Who knows where this latest decision will lead?
I hope you’ll stick around to find out.
The news about the house is great, for sure. However, the greatest news of all is having my sister in my life again.

NOTE: Several things have been taking up my time lately. The closing took two sessions. The PTV still has shifting problems when her engine is cold. We moved camp. A gazillion details demand attention.
I left the PTV overnight at the transmission shop and, of course, she shifted just fine the next morning. This was the morning of the closing, also time to leave Quail Ridge RV Resort. Hectic! Today I have several errands that cannot be postponed, like making sure the water isn’t cut off. Please carry on without me. BTW, the guessing game was fun! — Sue
