This post is written about a week after it happened.  Time delays in the blog make for challenging writing.  I can remember the overall “picture” and even the details of what was said and done about a week ago.  However,  I’m not always sure of the day of the week.

Whether Reggie and I did this or that on a Saturday or a Tuesday doesn’t really matter. What matters is that I write each post as truthfully as I’m able in order to convey what occurred.  

I know, I should take notes.  Maybe I will.  But, so far . . . I don’t feel like it.  — Sue

Road toward Brown’s Bench and Grey’s Landing at Salmon Falls Creek Reservoir, Idaho

Reggie and I take a drive south of Rogerson.

I want to see the reservoir from a different vantage point.  And, as always, I’m curious to discover if there are any boondocking possibilities in the area.

The Perfect Tow Vehicle transports Reggie and me south on Route 93.  After about 10 miles, she turns onto a dirt road and we rumble due west toward the reservoir.

Seven miles or so across grassland and we come to a place where another dirt road branches off to the south.  Someone with a Class C motor home is camping here (photo above).

We keep going west.  Not much further and the blue of the reservoir comes into view.

The road forks.  One way leads into the water, a place for launching boats.

The other way goes to a small picnic area.  There are a couple of picnic tables, a vault toilet, and fire rings made of rocks.

Scenic but too tight to camp, even with a tent. Plus, people wanting to launch boats or fish from shore would park here.

I let Reggie out.  I like him to be rewarded for riding patiently in the Perfect Tow Vehicle.

He’s a good dog and enjoys our little outings immensely.

Far out from shore I spot a Western Grebe, too far away for me to photograph.

Reggie and I ride over to Big Sand Bay, too.

I’ll show those photos in another post because I know readers are scrolling past landscape pics (you are!) to get to The Most Important Part of This Post . . . .

Reggie’s and Roger’s play date!

I find Anita at the store.

“Hey, let’s have Roger visit Reggie!” she suggests.

“Would it be okay if Reggie visits Roger at his house?”

“Sure!  I’ll meet you over there.”

Anita apologizes for her lawn.  

“Oh, it’s fine.  I remember my lawn in Georgia.  It was such a struggle to keep up with it.”

I put Reggie down (without his tether) and he and Roger begin to play.  (See Reggie taking a friendly bite out of Roger’s head in photo above.)

“Well, Anita, how’s it going with Roger?”

“He’s been good . . . although he did tear up my mini-blinds.”

“Uh-oh.  Well, he’s going through an adjustment period.”

 “Yeah, he was acting out.”  Anita chuckles good-naturedly.  “He likes to play with toys.  He has this rag I gave him.   He tosses it around and then goes after it.  So cute.  When he’s done playing, he curls up next to the pillow on the couch.”

“Is that where he spends the night?”

“No,” she replies, smiling, “he’s with me at night.  When I let him out at night, I call him to come back in and then I give him a piece of bacon.  He LOVES bacon.”

Roger shows Reggie his yard that goes all around the house.

The two pals are out of sight for a few minutes.

Anita calls, “Roger, come here, Roger.”

And here he comes around the back of the house with Reggie close behind.  Roger happily trots up to Anita.  After a bit of attention, he returns to his friend.
