I got a new car!!!
Is this a sweet ride or what?
I’m so excited about my car that RVSue said I could tell you all about it in a guest post!
First, the surprise.
One day RVSue, Reggie and I leave our camp near Roosevelt Lake, Arizona, and ride over the mountain to Globe. RVSue says she has some “packages” to pick up at the UPS Customer Center.
O-kaaaay . . . .
She backs the Perfect Tow Vehicle up to the loading dock.
Reg and I are sitting up front. With all the paraphernalia in the PTV, we can’t see what is being loaded in the back.
I don’t know anything about the car until we’re home again and RVSue lifts a big box out of the back of the PTV. She sets it on the blue mat by our door and says . . .
“Look what I got for you, Bridgie Baby!”
She assembles the car and puts me in it. With Reggie’s tether in hand and her ever-present camera, we take off down the road from our camp.
That’s when it hits me . . . .
This is MY car!
Oh, the ride is so smooth! I glide along, even over bumps! I know I’m lookin’ good, too!
RVSue pushes my car over the washboard part of the road.
“Just to test it out,” she says.
My car goes over the ridges like they aren’t even there.
It feels like I’m in a small rowboat, gently rocking on waves. At least that’s what RVSue says. I’ve never been in a small rowboat rocking on waves. I think I’d like it!
Let me tell you about my car’s features.
Well, first off, the color is called Midnight River, which I love! It reminds me of the time we camped next to a river and when we went out for a potty break, there was a full moon and . . . .
Oh, never mind that. Excuse me. I get carried away sometimes.
My car has all terrain tires, like the PTV!
They’re made out of rubber, not plastic, and they’re big which provides a high-lift axle for rough roads. It has rear shocks, too. I can go anywhere, as long as RVSue keeps pushing, that is!
This next photo shows the kind of terrain my car can handle.
Reggie is worried. He doesn’t know that RVSue put the emergency brake on!
I like riding with the top down best of all.
There’s something about a convertible that makes a gal feel young!
When the sun is harsh, the shade screen keeps me comfortable.
The top goes all the way down and locks. It hides me for stealth mode. There’s no need to be stealthy when boondocking!
See the handy basket below me?
Since this picture (below) was taken, we’ve assembled some supplies that stay in the basket for our rides. Things like a comb and needle-nose pliers for taking cholla out of Reggie, my black suit with lead, even field guides for RVSue, her monocular, lots of stuff!
We could pack a picnic lunch along with some drinks and my car can carry it all. Isn’t that wonderful?
It’s fun to roll along on a nice day, watching the scenery go by.
RVSue laughs because my head pivots from side to side. I’m just taking in the panoramic view!
We park the car to admire cactus blooms.
I’m happy to wait in my car. RVSue says I still have to walk. I can’t ride in my car all the time. I need to keep my muscles strong, she says.
It looks like one of the prickly pear “pads” was knocked over in the recent storm. The flowers still are pretty.
My car is roomy!
I could lie down and stretch out, if I wanted to. I prefer to sit up. Riding in my car is too much fun to lie down!
I’ve talked a lot about how much I like my car.
I left out something important — freedom!
Walking together has been a problem for us. I’ve tried not to complain when RVSue and Reggie leave me behind at camp when they go walking, but I hate it. They hate it, too.
After all, we like to be together all the time.
When I go on walks, I try my best to keep up, but I usually lag behind. Reggie goes so fast, it wears me out! RVSue cuts our walks short for me and that’s not fair for her and Reggie.
Now with my new car . . .
No more do I have to stay at camp when I’m feeling achy!
Folks, there comes a time when we need to accept our age, right?
Besides, I’d rather ride in comfort than traipse in the dirt!
RVSue says I’m the prettiest flower in the desert.
