The crew and I are at Midland Long Term Visitor Area near Blythe in southeastern California.

Good morning!  It’s a double-treat morning!

While the full moon descends in the west beyond colors as soft as a sigh . . .

. . . the sun rises in the east in a hail of trumpets and trombones!

Well, not really.  Kind of seems that way, doesn’t it?

To those who say the desert is drab and dull, I submit these photos as evidence to the contrary.

My last post is dated Wednesday, February 17th, and now it’s almost a week later!

I don’t remember what the crew and I did on each specific day.   I know we slept a lot.  When Bridget and Reggie took a nap, so did I, and we all know how much dogs sleep. 

Early to bed, early to rise, makes a woman ready for a long nap!  Anyway . . .

Here’s a recap of the past week.

One day the crew and I go to Blythe and do laundry, buy groceries, and fill the water jugs.

Another day I paint the yellowed Wilson antenna and its PVC pole.

I use a spray can of bright, white paint meant for plastic.  It looks great!  Like new!  You’ll see what I mean in a future post.  I don’t have the antenna up at this camp because the internet signal is strong without it.

I also use the hacksaw I bought at Ace Hardware in Blythe to saw off about four inches of the pole.  By doing this I can place the pole along the interior side of the Perfect Tow Vehicle, rather than diagonally.   (To see the Wilson antenna, pole, and bumper mount, click on Internet Antenna in the header.)

Over the span of a few days, I sort through the stuff I dragged out of the Perfect Tow Vehicle.

I separate the items rarely used or never used.  We drop some of it off at the thrift store in town.  Some goes in a dumpster at Midland LTVA.   While at the dumpsters we meet a nice couple who are camped at Midland and who are familiar with this blog.

Another day I organize the remaining items and repack the PTV.

We go to Carl’s, Jr, too!

The photo shows Reggie waiting at the pick-up window.  That’s the face of The One Who Will Not Be Denied!  Good thing there was no delay this time.

If a burger wasn’t forthcoming, you can bet he’d back-kick that doggie bed into the air!

Bridget, Reggie, and I walk the desert each morning. 

Before sunset, Reggie and I make our way around the long loop which takes us past our nearest neighbor.  Bridget prefers to stay at camp.

A man’s voice calls us to the window of the Class A.  As we approach I take a photo of the dog that Reggie tried to impress recently by peeing on her campsite.   Not the greatest pick-up line . . .

At the sight of us, she hurries inside.

The man and I talk through his window.

We discuss The Incident and clear the air.  He’s from northern California and is working on a book.  He brings Sophia to the window, holding her up to the screen.  I pick up Reggie so the two can meet.  Reggie leans toward the window screen and Sophia, curious, brings her face close to the screen on the other side.  Not one to waste time nor opportunity, the eager Reggie gives Sophia a kiss!  What a guy!

Sophia wiggles free and disappears to the rear of the motorhome.

‘We need to go.  Bridget’s waiting for us.  It was nice meeting you!”

Please, no more visitors!

I hate to bring up this subject again, especially after reading hundreds of friendly, kind, considerate comments, but apparently it needs to be repeated.

Almost everyone knows my policy:  “No drop-in visits, no photos, no exceptions.”

I’ll try to make this very clear.

Do not drive out here looking for us.  Do not park next to our house, jump out, and run to our door.   This is our home.  It is not a geocache for you to search and discover.  It is not a tourist stop.  It is not a visitors’ center.

I’m nice enough to show you our home and our camps.  Be nice enough to respect our real-life privacy.  Thank you.

I feel pretty good this morning.  I don’t think I’m “out of the woods” yet, as far as this sleepiness goes.  I’ll continue to eat well, take it easy, sleep a lot, love my crew, and enjoy the community of blogorinos.  Thank you for your patience during this hiatus.  Please continue without me.
