Friday, December 28, at home in Arizona
“Oh, Reggie . . . . NOW?”
I mumble my way to my feet, slip into my slippers, and shuffle behind Reggie who is in a hurry for the back door. (Reggie can’t always make it through the night without a potty break. The long nights of winter make it even more challenging for him.)
On the way through the kitchen, I glance at the digital clock on the range — 2:14 a.m.
Flip on the outside light, slide open the door . . . .
“Oh my gosh, Reg! It SNOWED!”
Roger soon bolts around the corner, dashes past my legs, and joins his buddy to find out what’s going on.
“It snowed, guys!” I exclaim, stating the obvious again. I step out onto the patio and from the porch light can see there’s a complete covering of white over everything.
The boys “sniff and lift” and hurry back to the warmth of the house.
Well, isn’t this a treat . . . .
When we wake, the sun is already up.
“Let’s go out in the snow, guys!”
Out the front door, we find the porch landing and steps are covered in slush. Roger plows through as if oblivious; Reggie hesitates. Before I can lift him to carry him over, he gingerly hop-steps his way through the ice and water.
Gotta’ keep up with Roger!
I’m momentarily disappointed that the snow scenes aren’t fresh and pristine for the camera, but it’s fun anyway, having this change come over our property. (I’d sing a different tune if I had to deal with ice and snow for weeks or months at a time!)
The boys make an admirable effort to patrol the property. Reggie tries to walk with only one paw touching the cold ground at any given time.
Some photos are dim because it’s still early in the morning.
A snow-adorned yucca . . .
An ice-bearing rose . . . .
This isn’t the first time the Best Little Trailer has had snow on her roof!
We were caught in snow at camps in New Mexico, California, Wyoming, and Utah. Maybe more camps that I’m not recalling . . . .
First I check the bird bath and find the ice has melted.
Next I fill the bowl-type bird feeder and top off the hanging feeders.
It would be nice to have photos of the birds feasting.
I try to sneak a shot from the porch. This startles the birds, so I back off, not wanting to give the creatures more stress. Immediately the feeders become a “hot bed” of activity again!
Enjoy your breakfast in peace, little ones . . . .
What?
No scenes of the boys romping in the snow?
Ha. These guys are chihuahuas. This snow stuff is too weird. The last thing they want to do is roll around in it. That’s for those other breeds!
One of the things I’m enjoying . . . .
Having never lived a winter in southeastern Arizona, I’m curious about what weather we get during our first winter here. I note our first snow came during the early morning hours of December 28th.
If the forecasts for lows in the 20s for the coming week pan out, this will be our first, real “cold snap” of the season.
Not bad.
Before long, we’ll have a warming trend. I can live with this!
In fact, I like it!

READER PRODUCT RECOMMENDATIONS!
The links below take you to Amazon.
Suzette recommends:
“I just placed my third order for these wonderful nonslip clothes hangers. The best thing about them is that they are shaped in such a way that they don’t leave shoulder dimples on even my flimsiest knits. I wear a lot of knits!
‘Don’t you hate those pokies that most clothes hangers leave? These don’t do that! It’s physics or something. I am gradually replacing all my hangers with these. They’re the best!” — Suzette

MPOWERD Luci – The Original Inflatable Solar Light, Clear Finish
“I wanted to give a shout out to a product I got for Christmas from Amazon. It is a Luci light. It’s a waterproof solar powered, small lamp. I love it!” — Dawn
