Bridget returns as guest blogger today. Reggie joins her in his first attempt.
“Hi, everyone! Reggie and I are going to tell you about Little Cottonwood Campground. It is located on Route 153. That’s a road that goes east out of the town of Beaver, Utah.
The campground is only a few miles further up the road from our boondock.”
“Excellent introduction, Bridge!”
“Thanks, RVSue. Okay, where was I? . . .
When we drive up to the campground, we see a bar across the road that looks like this . . .
. . . which doesn’t stop RVSue! She parks the Perfect Tow Vehicle by the side of the road. She says we can walk the campground anyway and have it all to ourselves, right, Reggie?”
“Yeah! That sign doesn’t stop us. We walk right under it! Haha!”
“It’s not really breaking the rules, Reg. I think the sign means it’s closed for camping. Next we walk up to the pay station and find out it costs $14 a night, unless you have an old person’s pass, then it’s only $7 a night. The campground loop is paved. I like that. It’s easy on the paws.”
“Also, you could ride in your car here, couldn’t you, Miss B?”
“Yes, it’s smooth enough. I don’t need my car today though. Oh, isn’t that rabbit brush lovely!”
“Git outta’ the brush, you sneaky rabbits! I know you’re hiding in there! I’ll bite your stupid tails off! Haha!”
“Okay, Reggie, enough of that. There are a lot of trees in this campground. I guess that’s why it’s called Little Cottonwood. A cottonwood is a tree. Here’s one of the campsites.”
“This next campsite is our favorite. RVSue, Reggie, and me . . . We always pick which campsite we like the best.”
“Can I show them a campsite?”
“Sure, Reg, go ahead.”
“Here’s a campsite! Haha!”
“Good, Reggie. Maybe you could say something about the campsite?”
“Um . . . There’s a water spickit! And it has a sign on it telling people to keep their germs to themselves. It doesn’t say you can’t pee on it.”
“What about these campsites, Reggie?”
“Yeah, there are two campsites that are really smooth. RVSue says they make them smooth for wheelchairs to roll on them good.”
“If I might add, Reg . . .
. . . One of the disabled sites is across from the vault toilet and both of them are near enough to the river that you can hear it from your camper. We like to hear the river, don’t we, Reg?”
“Yeah. The river sounds neat. Oh! Here’s the way to go to the river, everybody!”
“Miss B and I walk down the sidewalk together.”
“It’s nice walking with you, Reggie. Usually you’re too excited to walk as slowly as I do.”
“I know. I can’t help it. My body is energized. Let’s go this way!”
“It sure is pretty here . . .”
. . . Could we sit for a minute and enjoy it, Reg?”
“Yay! Logs! I like to climb on stuff!”
“Reggie! Get away from that water! Gosh, you’re scaring me!”
“Get back on the sidewalk, little man. Whew! You should always be careful around water, Reg. This water is fast and stronger than you are. If you fell in, it would be over your head. . . . Sorry for the interruption, folks. I have to watch him every minute . . .
. . . As I was about to say, Little Cottonwood is a nice campground. RVSue says it makes a good stop-over for a night or two when traveling through the Beaver area. There are more campgrounds higher up the mountain. This one is better because it doesn’t make your ears pop. I don’t like to have my ears pop. . . .
Come on, Reggie! RVSue says it’s time to go home.”
“Coming, Miss B!”
“Why don’t you wrap up this post for us, Reggie. You’ve done a wonderful job so far.”
