Guess what the topic of today’s post is

Yes!  Edith came to our camp yesterday!

On Friday, July 3, Bridget, Reggie, and I meet Edith in the big back yard of Dogpatch Too where she lives with her foster mom, Katie.

Introductions go well . . . .

P1050960Bridget, however, isn’t much interested in Edith.

She lets Edith know right away who is top dog.

P1050962Reggie, on the other hand, is very excited and invites Edith to play.  A game of chase commences.

“Oh my gosh, ” Katie exclaims.  “Edith is chasing Reggie!”

I’d like to report the details of the day.

Maybe I’ll be able to do that in a future post.  Right now we are parked alongside the highway as I type this and I don’t have time to write all that.  I’ll let the photos give you an idea how things are going.  Unfortunately, I don’t have many photos.  I haven’t had time to figure out why many of the pictures didn’t come out right.  Anyway . . .

The canine threesome walks the campground loop.

P1050971Playtime in the pen is fun for about three minutes.

Tether play lasts longer and is more fun!

P1050965Reggie steals Edith’s toy piggy . . . .

He’s turning into a little show-off.  Funny what a girl can do to a guy!

P1050989-001Romping on the bed . . . . Who gets to sleep where?

P1050974I haven’t made a firm decision about adopting Edith.

The Pixie Project’s adoption policy requires a two-week trial period.  As you can imagine, the four of us have a lot of adjusting to do.  Besides the bonding necessary between Edith and me, there is the canine pecking order to be established.  Routines need to be learned.  I need to learn how to handle three, instead of two.

Let’s just say there’s a lot going on in our little home right now.  Bridget shows no sign of accepting Edith.  She snarls and snaps (without biting, of course) whenever Edith comes too close.   Bridget gives me these sad looks . . .

P1050987Edith has some issues she carries from her days on the street.  (She’s already had a litter of pups!)   Reggie? . . . Well, he loves having someone to play with . . . and, of course, he has a sad face, too, whenever Edith is in my lap.

I am happy to report that all of us had a good night’s sleep in spite of the heat and after much “discussion” who sleeps where!

And where would that be?

Well, on the bed with me, of course!

Lazy Bend Campground is full for the holiday weekend.

Today we will relax at camp.  You may sense from the tone of this post that I have some concerns about this situation.  Edith is a darling and seems happy to be with us.  I don’t know why I’m not firmly convinced that she’s right for us.  My hesitation may simply be this stretch of heat, day after day, wearing me down.  I’m searching my heart as well as evaluating the interactions of the pups in order to figure out what is best for all of us.

I hope to have better photos for the next post.

Happy Independence Day!
