May (continued)
Mill Meadow Reservoir on the Fremont River northeast of Loa, Utah
Fishlake National Forest, Utah
Fish Lake in the Mytoge Mountains north of Loa, Utah

We made this day trip before the busy summer season. Several campgrounds and resorts, as well as a marina, are situated on the northwest shoreline.
Journey Through Time Scenic Byway
to Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument

Another beautiful day trip in May! Also terrifying! Driving the infamous Route 12 where it is a narrow strip across incredibly huge and deep canyons on both sides is not for the fainthearted. Photo taken from Calf Creek Campground.
June
Ivie Creek, Fishlake National Forest, northwest of Salina, Utah

Cold, clear Ivie Creek tumbling along in front of our camp, wildflowers, mossy rocks, shady glens, fresh green grass, mountain view, visits by wild turkeys — one of the most beautiful boondocks of the year!
Badger Mountain, Manti-La Sal National Forest, east of Ephraim, Utah

We camped here for two weeks before moving to another camp higher on the mountain (with Ranger permission).
July
Our Second Camp on Badger Mountain, Ephraim, Utah

“Camp Aspen” — I enjoyed my lounger (until it collapsed!), reading and relaxing under the fluttering leaves of aspens. A tiny stream flowed by this mountain camp (elev. approx. 9,000 ft.).
Ponderosa Campground, Uinta National Forest, east of Nephi, Utah

A well-maintained, pretty campground in the pines along Salt Creek. Not allowed to let dogs run free, so the pen came in handy for the crew. We only stayed one night.
Tinney Flat Campground, Uinta National Forest, Santaquin, Utah
Stoddard Creek Campground, Targhee National Forest, Spencer, Idaho

Our campsite was private enough, even though the campground filled up.Again the crew’s pen came in handy. It’s here that the crew and I became lost in the forest!
Beaverhead Campground, southwest of Dillon, Montana

Clark Canyon Reservoir is conveniently located along I-15 and the campground is free (14-day limit). Bridget and Spike enjoyed wading and soaking in the reservoir. We stayed here previously in 2012 and probably will return!
The reminiscing will continue . . .
