Blogging frustration

Blogging can be so annoying!

I just spent an hour writing an entry.  I tried to make the headings orange, as usual.  I tried to edit some errors.  I saved everything in draft form because I couldn’t get anything to work right (headings, italics, bold, orange), just in case it quit altogether.  Well, it quit altogether and I can’t get back what I wrote.  Of course, now it’s working just fine.

So today’s post is short . . .

I called and got an appointment for Wednesday to have the solar panel installed.  I’d better quit now before my words dissolve into cyberspace.

I’ve had similar problems with Google’s Blogger. Usually it’s my fault, but not always. I just wish they’d quit “updating” their service and leave things alone. It seems like every “improvement” causes a lot of angst before the bugs get ironed out.

    Keep blogging. Love your posts!

I agree Denise! It took me all day to post my last blog and I had to do it in 3 installments because it would just stop! Sheeesh! I was thinking of changing over to wordpress because I like the interaction between Sue and her friends. It’s a pain to try and leave a comment on Google Blogger!

Denise, You’re right . . . Whenever WordPress makes some “improvement,” I start having problems. I was happy with the procedure for posting photos. Well, now it’s “improved,” and it takes twice as long and other stuff is breaking down.

Geri, I do like the way comments show up on WordPress. There’s plenty of room to write and it’s easy to read.

I just want you to know how much I look forward to your entries! I’ve signed up to receive them via email – and I also take a moment to read your post. I’m 2 to 3 years away from following your nomadic ways…and as I sit here at work, I can think of nothing better than hitting the road. Currently, I am downsizing…and I may move in with family to save money and pay off my car. Once I learn to live for less and with less – I will venture into the purchase of my new home. I’ll be one of those people who will need to work while traveling – and I’m hoping that in addition to some of the “normal” jobs for full-timers, I may be able to do some bigger things through temporary services. I was always good in an office 🙂 !! It’s a huge change in my thought process – but I am ready and willing to join the road of other singles out there! I’ll be the “baby” since I plan on doing it by 2015 when I’m 55. Wish me Luck! And in the meantime – thanks for your daily posts!

    • rvsueandcrew says:

      Hi, Terri!

Your downsizing thinking is similar to the way I prepared for fulltiming. I emptied out my house, except for one room, and closed up most of the house. Get what you need paid-in-full, set up a nest egg if you can, and when you hit the road, commit to living within your means. That’s why I haven’t been running all over the place, going to amusements and such . . . I want to live well within my means. It’s a big part of feeling free.

I wish you the best of luck reaching for your dream! Thank YOU for reading my blog . . .

Awwww Susan, I am so sorry about losing your post. I have had that happen with my newsletter program. It is so frustrating after you write something to have it “eaten”

Did I see a GREEN field in the desert????

Look forward to reading your posts. I am tempted to hook up and join you in NM. Somehow I have lost the title and bill of sale to my camper and am afraid to pull it cross country until I can get them replaced..which should be pretty soon. I am a single senior citizen who has perpetual wanderlust. I recently signed up for wordpress. As of yet I have not blogged. Hope to have better results than you as I am computer ignorant for the most part….lol….Will post the blog spot when up and ruming.
Glad to hear of your appointment for the solar. Eager to see how it works out for you.
    Stay safe.

Setting up a blog on WordPress is pretty easy. There are many good things about WordPress. It just seems like lately it freezes up or drops stuff too often.

Go ahead and get blogging! One thing I have to tell myself when I have trouble getting started . . . This is not great literature. It’s only a blog. You can’t have 15 revisions, trying to create art, day in and day out. It’s only a blog, it’s only a blog, it’s only a blog ….. Then I write as if I’m talking.

Let us know about your blog once you get it going . . . Good luck! It’s fun!

  7. rvsueandcrew says:

Thanks, Jool . . . I’m glad you enjoyed the photos.

About the font . . . Now all of a sudden, while I’m writing my post, the font will arbitrarily change to a tiny font. What’s that all about? It’s weird, like gremlins have taken over WordPress.

  8. Mike Leonard says:

Well.. I was going to ask you about problems I had with figuring out WordPress…. but, um, nevver mind. Maybe I’ll come back tomorrow..

    • rvsueandcrew says:

      Mike! Hello!

Wow! I love your Casita Dreams blog! You’ve made a great start and your writing style is very natural.

When I started my blog, I didn’t think the crew would be such an integral part of it. I soon found that many people like to hear about them and they do provide some comic relief. Your bichons will give you much material to work with, something a blogger appreciates on slow news days!

Please ask me questions. I’d love to help you if I can, but looking at your blog, I don’t know what it would be . . .

    • rvsueandcrew says:

      Hey, Jool!

Let me know if I can help you with something. The only way I know how to make the font larger is to use a different template or to write everything in Heading 1 or Heading 2, which might raise some other problems. (My orange lettering is in Heading 2).

Supposedly there is a way to download different fonts for different lettering styles. I tried to do that without success. Oh well, I prefer clarity over frills anyway.

BTW, for the benefit of anyone reading this, go to Jools Jaunts. She is doing a great job with her blog!

  9. Hi Sue and Crew! Im not really commenting to this post specifically, but to your blog in general. I read a few of your posts from November. Your post on 11/13 not the same as full-timing, was especially good. You have such an awesome attitude and heart. I enjoy the way you write and share.
We spent many months in New Mexico last year at their State parks, and Elephant Butte was one we visited for a few weeks, twice. At Brantley Lake SP out of Carlsbad, we experienced record cold temperatures with snow. During that time there was a guy staying in his car just like you described, and I had the same questions and concerns. It sometimes takes seeing something like this for us to remember how truely blessed we are.
We will be following you on your blog, and would love to have you follow us on our blog as well.

      Hello, Sheryl!

Welcome to you and Jeff! Aren’t New Mexico parks great? I never thought I’d spend so much time at one park as I did at Elephant Butte, until I was actually there and found the area so interesting and beautiful. Of course, making friends kept me there, too!

Brantley Lake State Park will always hold a special place in my heart because I almost died from the heat there! And you were there in the cold and snow . . .

Yes, we are blessed. I look at my little trailer, all shiny and paid for, and I am very grateful. I’m even more grateful for the contentment I have living in it. That’s a huge blessing . . . not having any desire for something bigger or better than what you already have!

Everybody! Be sure to look at Sheryl’s blog (just click on her name at the start of her comment). . . It’s an interesting place and she has a zillion photos! Great job, Sheryl!

In Olden Days when I was doing this stuff the main problem was losing a connection in mid transmission…Poof!

I got in the habit of writing everything off line in Wordpad, then cutting and pasting. At least then I could easily start over in case of loss. All I did on line in Blogger was formatting. Of course I still occasionally lost that, but mine was generally pretty simple.

    • rvsueandcrew says:

      Hi, Bob!

I probably should write off line. However, almost all the problems come when it’s time to put the finishing touches on.

After I’ve written, I go back and pull the headings out and make them larger font and orange. I put the thoughts I had at the time in italics. I make rvsue bold and italic. Photos go in as I write or when I’m done writing. Slideshows always are put in last. All these things have to be done online, of course. That’s when the goblins rise up and do their mischief.

  11. rvsueandcrew says:

Great to see you back here!

  12. BeckyIO says:

Sue, you make me so anxious to get my Casita and get out there on the road with all these beautiful pictures! Might I ask what your Solar system is going to be like? I’m going to be getting that done eventually too, but I know the Casita’s battery bank can only fit one battery without modifications. Originally I wanted two 6 volt golf cart batteries and about 130-150 watts of Solar panel to feed them but I don’t know how I’m going to make that work yet.

I’m sorry WordPress isn’t behaving for you! I’m using the self hosted WordPress and they’re trying to get me to upgrade to the latest version, I keep saying no. 😛 I’m juggling 7 plugins and several widgets and it’s all working right now so I don’t see any reason to change.

Safe travels, and good luck with the install!

    • rvsueandcrew says:

      Hi, Becky!

Did you get the email from WordPress about the ads? Now they are allowing ads via WordPress (rather than, say, Google adsense).

I’m going to keep my promise to explain my solar set-up. I’m hoping tomorrow the panel will be installed and I’ll be good to go!

      • BeckyIO says:

For the self-hosted wordpress ad options have been available for a while now I think? I guess I didn’t pay much attention since it doesn’t interest me much.

It seems like you had a nice day today with friends visiting. Hopefully your new spot has less burrs in it for poor Spike to step on!

I guess I just need to be patient a little while longer for the update, hehe.
