Our little electric heater worked all night long to keep us warm.
Bridget clings to the PTV so her paws don’t touch the icy snow.
The snow is mixed with ice and crunches under my feet.
I quickly snap some photos. The crew won’t want to stay outside long.
Look what we would’ve missed if I’d rushed us out of New Mexico!
A snow-covered fence makes a pretty scene.
I let the crew wander around. They won’t go far this morning.
“Spikey! Get moving or you’ll freeze that way!”
The sky is cloudless. The snow will be gone soon.

No, I’m not using the propane heater. I’d rather pay $4 and use the campground’s electric for now. I’ll use my propane when I dry camp.
I’m going to work on adding information about the solar project (See header.) . . . and drink hot chocolate and maybe read my kindle. It’s a rough life!
Sorry you’re having such a rough life, but someone HAS to do it. We had about 3-4 inches up here on the ‘hill’ and Scottie was the only one who knew what it was!!! Stay warm!!

I’m glad for all the snow around us and up in the mountains. Someday I’d like to come back to this area and see the lakes and the Rio Grande at high water level.

Ya knoe it ‘s interesting how when you do not have to live there all Winter, snow is really pretty. However after one winter up in the Montana mountains It wasn’t so pretty and I was stupid enough to stay around there for 10 more years. Regularly had six to eight feet on the ground and temps below zero for weeks at a time. Min temp I ever saw at my place was -52, that was kinda nippy. Thand God for 20 cords and a big stove to burn it in.

52 below is “kinda nippy” all right. When the snow covers the windows, you know you’re in the wrong place. You’re right about snow being pretty when you know it’s temporary. I remember hating the snow when I lived in New York state and had to deal with it, day-in and day-out for months. That’s why I ran off to Florida for several years . . .
“Below zero for weeks at a time”……man, that takes stamina.

Actually I am nuts and I’m also trapped . . . I stayed to get the solar work done and now the weather is not cooperating! Rain is expected, followed by cold today.,… I know all about black ice from living in Georgia. . . . I don’t want the Casita to do pirouettes on the highway!

Here I was complaining about my weather here in San Felipe BC MX. It has been in the 60s during the day and 50’s at night and we had a storm come through with “RAIN’ it hardly every does that! And you have snow ! At least you’re warm and cozy with your K9 pals.

Your weather sounds wonderful right now. It seems like the big lesson I need to learn about fulltiming is how to work the weather. I was in western Texas during the hottest part of the summer, camped in the mountains when it turned rainy and chilly, and now I’m sitting in the snow facing another cold front.
Oh well, every delay so far has shown a silver lining . . . WARM wishes to you in Mexico!
I see that you will be in the teens Monday and Tuesday nights. Tomorrow looks like a OK travel day to head southwest? Thanks for the great photos.

I love snow! Not that I want to move to Canada or Colorado for the Winter or anything like that… but a surprise snow every once in a while is refreshing!
We enjoyed 6 inches of snow at Brantley Lake SP last February. It was fun except that everything froze up for days.

I was so surprised when I saw how cold it gets in T or C. I thought it would be the same as we have here in Tucson. We’re getting some pretty cold weather, too, but just barely freezing at night for the next few nights. Here’s to a warmer than average winter coming up…. for you and us!

Hi! Yes, I’ll agree to that!
If your looking for a nice scenic sunshiny area with milder temps I would sure suggest you come on over here to the Ajo area. Great spot to ease into the boondocking lifestyle while in a beautiful landscape out here on Darby Wells road.. We made it from T or C to our Darby Wells location in less than two days. Once you reach Tucson you are in the Sonoran desert and it’s only another hundred miles west to the Ajo area, From Ajo it’s only a nice day’s drive to Quartzsite or Yuma. Lots of desert greenery over here in these parts and lots of BLM land to camp on. Come on over and rev up that new solar power.
Now that sounds like a great invite from Al….. and today (Sunday) is supposed to be nice for a get a way day.. Tonight it gets nasty again until Tues or Wednesday! Did you get any power to your solar from the little bit of sun we had yesterday???
To The Bayfields Bunch and Sue’s bloglovers…. Sue’s computer woke up dead this morning! 🙁 We happened to run into her at WalMart. She asked me to tell you she will get back online asap. She is getting some more fine tuning done to her solar and will be here until at least Wed. Then she hopes to head towards Ajo. Sue thinks she needs to replace the battery to her computer… hopefully that is the problem!

Ajo and Darby Wells sound wonderful, and it would be a good place for me to develp some boondocking skills. I don’t like to drive a lot in one day, so it would definitely be a two-day trip for me and the crew to get there. I am reading your blog every day with great interest. It is extremely helpful for me.
Reasons to stay here (solar project with free labor from great friends!) keep arising, but the weather will get me out of “Dodge” soon. Right now I’m waiting for the second storm to pass.
