I mention that the crew and I are in our “winter home.” That’s real time, what’s happening now in our lives. (I’d rather not share our location until the blog is caught up in time.)
As I type this we’re living in November. However, the blog is in October. Okay?
Let’s step into the time machine and go back to . . .
Saturday, October 7
The crew and I hike the trails at Red Cliffs National Conservation Area, a few miles northwest of St. George, Utah.
Sunday, October 8
After three days at Red Cliffs, we’re on the road again. Interstate 15 takes us south through St. George, followed by the magnificent Virgin River Gorge.
We make camp at Cedar Pocket Campground.
This is a familiar campground for us. Only $8 regular/$4 with senior pass. If you want, you can stay for a month for only $90. There are flush toilets and trash pick-up. Water is available at a spigot near the entrance. No showers and no dump station.
Cedar Pocket is a popular stop for snowbirds.
The crowd ebbs and flows in the course of a week.
We arrive before the daily influx of overnighters.
I choose a nice pull-through site where the neighbors aren’t close and the view is the best.
The gravel pull-through is edged with a curved concrete curb, so the blue mat doesn’t fit. Instead I throw down the old brown comforter. Add the two doggie beds out of the Perfect Tow Vehicle, plus the crew’s toy hedgehog, and we have instant, canine play room.
Rip it up, boys!
The next photos were taken around sunset when the light brings out the colors of the rocks. I did not boost the color in editing. Honest.

This is our third year camping at Cedar Pocket.
Last year Reggie played with Sadie, the German Shepherd. Of course, this place is new for Roger.
