View from Poverty Flats camp, Overton, Nevada
Another beautiful day in southeastern Nevada!
Reggie gobbles up his breakfast of shredded chicken. I finish my coffee.
“Instead of walking on this rocky ground, how ’bout we find you some green grass!”
Our camp on the mesa is peaceful, serene, private, and has spectacular views. However, the ground is embedded with small rocks. Reggie doesn’t seem to mind walking on the rough surface, but I’m sure he’d appreciate something softer under his paws.
On the way out of Poverty Flats we pass the cluster of RVs near the main road.
At 7:30 on a Sunday morning the streets of Overton are practically empty.
I turn at the sign for Overton Park.
“You’re gonna’ love this, Reg,” I promise, as I hook him to his tether and lift him out of the Perfect Tow Vehicle.
He immediately runs from cottonwood tree to cottonwood tree, making his mark and back-kicking.
Reggie Man has arrived!
Before I take Reggie over to the expanse of green grass, we walk along the fence. I want to photography the oleander blossoms . . .
. . . as well as the pomegranates. Birds flit noisily among the branches, out of view. I get the message: These pomegranates have been claimed!
“Okay, let’s go over where you can run around. Gee, no one is here but us . . . Go, Reggie, go!”
This is just what the little guy needs. Kinda’ wish there were some other dogs here though.
When Reggie looks like he’s had enough and would like a drink, we return to the PTV. Before leaving town, we stop at Lin’s Grocery where I buy a few salad fixin’s and a container of orange juice.
We stay at camp for the rest of the day.
Reggie has things he has to do, like harass Armadillo.
And I have things that I have to do, like watch the clouds.
