The canine crew’s resolutions for the new year

Spike’s New Year Resolutions

"Heh, heh, heh .. . She won't get me."

1)  I hereby resolve . . . to stop running off when rvsue isn’t looking, and then pretending not to hear her calling me, instead picking up the pace to keep ten feet ahead of her while she runs behind me, looking like a fool.

2)  I hereby resolve . . .  to admit I have a problem with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and stop licking Bridget’s ears, teeth, and face several times every day.

3)  I hereby resolve . . .  to let Bridget have some time with the chew bones.

4)  I hereby resolve . . .  to stop eating some of Bridget’s supper, even though, Lord knows, it would do her good to cut back.  Have you seen her butt?

Bridget’s New Year Resolutions

"I try to be good, but it's not easy with Spike around."

1)  I hereby resolve . . . to stop giving rvsue an icy stare with beady eyes when she’s trying to eat.  I will also refrain from letting out a bark every time she takes a bite.

2)  I hereby resolve . . . to stop covering for Spike and let rvsue know the minute he tries to sneak off somewhere.

3)  I hereby resolve . . . to ignore Spike’s hurtful comments and to accept my body as it is.

4)  I hereby resolve . . . to rip his face off if he says one more thing about my butt.

Spike’s additional New Year Resolutions

5)  I hereby resolve . . .  to lick Bridget’s ears whenever I feel like it because she’s an annoying little sister that I didn’t ask for.

6)  I hereby resolve . . . just try squealing on me you little brat . . .

Bridget’s additional New Year Resolutions

"At least my farts don't smell!"

5)  I hereby resolve . . . to get my jaws on every chew bone and chew my little heart out on it and then bury it in the dirt and cover it with leaves so Spike can’t find it.

Oh, by the way, did you know Spike farts in bed?

All right you two!  That’s enough!

My guess is they don’t mean a word of it and like everyone else who makes resolutions they will be history in less than a month. Well maybe not number 5.

The Bichon Brothers are rolling on the floor laughing! They all had baths today, under the shower on the outside of the Casita. They still don’t like baths, even thought at least they are camping…. It was 83 degrees here today, but they were still shivering afterward!

  14. Marsha says:

Through your blog I feel like I’ve gotten to know you, Spike and Bridget. Their resolutions had me laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes. It was so – Spike and Bridget!

TOO FUNNY – love it. My DIL made a sign for me that says “Warning, dog can’t hold his licker.” Maybe Spike needs one.

  20. Mark says:

Funny… poor Spike, a guy can’t have a little fun without the women picking on him. Lol

Non-doggy comment… Just made the recipe for minestrone soup that you included many posts ago, and it is delicious! I read it days ago, and it was easy to find again under the subject search.
Great blog, interesting reading, and now great camping recipe ideas 🙂

We are getting ready to take Casita #4 for a ride down I-95 this coming Sunday. Would sure love to take a right on I-10 and head for Yuma, but we are watching the weather. Will continue to follow your adventures on my iPad.

Happy New Year – looks like you are off to a great start!

  22. PamG says:

    Sue,
One day before you go for a walk, put a smelly treat in your pocket (bologna or a hot dog in a baggie poked with holes works for me) and then let Spike chase YOU for a change of pace. Oh ho!

Seriously, teach him the word ‘Treat’ by saying it every time right before you feed them something extra delicious. Then, when Spike runs in the wrong direction, and you are desperate, just hollar “Treat”, and he’ll come running right up to you.

      Hi. Pam!

They already know the word “cheese” and boy do their ears perk up … they come runnin’! Trouble is .. .I have to deliver the cheese or they pester me forever . . .

  23. Robert says:

    Hi Sue,
The product I mentioned for your computer is the ‘iGo’ at Radio Shack.
Great talking with you. See you down the road sometime.

This is the cutest post I’ve seen in a long while! My husband and I often look at Killer and wonder what he is thinking. Spike and Bridget are soooo cute! Best companions u’ll ever have! They are loving and fun all the time. If only us “humans” could be as good as they r. Thanks for these posts, it really brightened my day. Just got home from having oral surgery and saw this…I’m still smiling. lol
