Thrift store treasures and other house happenings

Thursday, July 5

Mike the roofer arrives at the house this morning with more supplies.  Before the holiday he had left a message on my phone that he wasn’t coming out to work on the roof that day due to an attack of headache and dizziness.

My immediate thought was the sun and heat on the roof got the best of him.  If you’ve had headaches from sun glare and heat, you know how debilitating they can be.

I step out onto the back patio to greet him. Reggie and Roger shoot out the door and eagerly hop around Mike. They know he’s good for some attention and they love it.

“How are you feeling today, Mike?”

“Much better.  I went to the doctor. Remember the last day I was here working?  My doctor says the salt tablet I took messed up my blood pressure.  I take blood pressure medicine.”

“Well, gee . . . That sort of puts you in a spot. You know, I really wouldn’t mind if you make a habit of quitting by noon each day.   It’s not good to be up on that roof later than that.”

Mike agrees.

We talk things over and it’s set that he will resume the roof job on Monday.

“That’ll give you time to get back your equilibrium,” I note.

About those thrift store bargains . . .

In a previous post I mention that my sister Nancy hunts for furnishing at the local thrift store and consignment shop near her house in Florida.  Readers express interest in what she’s found lately for our house in Arizona.  Never wanting to disappoint my readers, here are a couple photos.

The lamp will go in the living room over the coffee table and cast a warm glow.   (The fixture presently hanging  there is so atrocious that I cannot bring myself to post a photo of it.)

Nancy writes in an email that the lamp is too heavy for her to hold up and photograph.  This is a photo off the internet of a lamp similar to the one she bought.  I’ll show the lamp when it’s hanging in our living room.

Nancy also finds and falls in love with a great coffee table with a copper top. Unfortunately it costs too much. She tries negotiating, but the price is firm.

Instead she finds this sturdy beauty.

Actually it isn’t a beauty until she’s refinished it as shown here.  (The color isn’t true. Her phone’s camera put a pink cast on the base.)

I like it!

In the email accompanying the photo, Nancy writes that fixing up the table is therapy from another stressful week at her job.

“It (the table) even has a hidden compartment in the drawer.  We can keep our drug paraphernalia in there!”

Okay, she’s joking.

See the dish in the shape of a saguaro? A gift from a friend.  And that’s a booklet of color chips from a store near me.  I mailed it to Nancy so she could pick out the paint for our front door.

The format of pics of previous camps will return.

I like to change things up from time to time.  Besides, I have more crew photos.  The world needs more dogs-at-play photos, right?

Forever friends!

It’s funny the way the two of them trot around holding the rope toy like this.

Dogs can teach us a lot, if we are receptive.

How to get along with someone?

Simple:  Share the rope and hold up your end.

    Hi…

  2. Cynthia in San Clemente says:

First?? It’s been a long time.

  3. Marcia GB in MA says:

Share the rope and hold up your end. Stellar advice!

  4. Cynthia in San Clemente says:

I think I was first and I tried replying “First?” two times and neither appears to have posted. Hmmmmm….

Well now that I’ve gone back and actually read the post … how nice of you Sue that you are understanding of Mike’s situation and the heat. Roofing is a really difficult and dangerous job. I used to have a client who owned a large roofing company and his workers compensation rates here in California were some of the highest because of all the injuries those guys sustain.(I’m not being sexist, but I’ve never seen a female roofer).

I love thrift store shopping – I’ve found some very cool things in thrift stores and garage sales. Once cleaned up and sometimes, refinished, you are left with one-of-a-kind items that don’t look like all the cookie cutter furniture and decor you see in catalogs.

Absolutely love that close-up of R&R with the rope – I just want to scoop them up and love on ’em!!

    • rvsueandcrew says:

One of your “First?” comments ended up under my reply so I deleted it.

You (and others who open up comments quickly) may have noticed that the post looks wonky and then it is corrected. Before I post, I always look at a preview for problems. When I’m satisfied all is well, I publish the post.

Then I look at what has been published and there are errors like a big space underneath a photo. I’m trying to fix the post just as hundreds of people are receiving an email that a new post is up and they start sending comments.

It’s a wonder any of you get through! Anyway…. That’s probably why your comments didn’t show.

Yes, roofing is dangerous work. I don’t like Mike being up there during the hottest hours of the day. Sometimes he has another guy with him. Neither needs to push themselves beyond noon. There aren’t any leaks, so there isn’t any hurry for me. Of course, they’re trying to make a living . . . .

I scoop up the crew all the time, just because they’re cute!

      • Cynthia in San Clemente says:

Thanks for the explanation of your editing process – I usually think I’ve mucked it up somehow, so I keep resending and that probably creates more of a problem for you!!

  5. Nancy in California says:

    Good morning!
My goodness, a salt tablet when being treated for blood pressure issues! Your poor roofer! I am glad he is ok, and that is very sweet of you to suggest knocking off work at noon. It is just so not good to be outdoors working in such heat! It is forecast to be 114° here today, and I am praying there will not be a big brush fire for our firefighters to have to contend with
Mike’s experience could remind us all to be very careful with our prescibed medication, as well as taking anything OTC, including vitamins, supplements, etc
Love the lamp! Don’t you want to amuse us with a pic of the one in situ? 🙂 Some of us might like it!

    • rvsueandcrew says:

      Hi, Nancy,

Wow! 114 degrees…. I didn’t realize CA got temps like that. I hope you have sea breeze to go with it.

No, I can’t show the other lamp now that I’ve called it “atrocious,” which it is. What if a reader has the same lamp? I don’t always catch my foot before it goes into my mouth, as regular readers of this blog know, but this time I’m being careful. 🙂

You’ll see how perfect the “new” lamp is for our living room.

      • Marilyn Dennison says:

Tell Mike to drink coconut water. That is the best for fluid replenishment in hot weather. I bicycle in South Florida and it is a lifesaver. I learned about it from a doctor who bicycled Death Valley. He dehydrated with just water and stopped at a convenience store. They recommended coconut water and he said it was a miracle drink. I always bike with it now.

        • rvsueandcrew says:

          Hi, Marilyn,

Coconut water. Last time I was in the grocery I saw coconut water and wondered about it for smoothies. Interesting information about it preventing dehydration. I’ll tell Mike. I saw him drinking Gatorade.

  6. Suzicruzi says:

Heeyy-yay.. I love the one of Rogg alone with the pink-ish colored rope. What a great shot Sue! Love the antics of your boys! Such sweeties. Great companions for you- both of them!
3 more days till pick up of our li’l Casita. Can’t stand it! I reviewed the KOA in SF NM yesterday, but I want to add; it was all that I mentioned previously, but also noisy with the freeway rather close to the tent site area. The host said small trailers were parked along the far back fence line, so maybe not as noisy for you RVers?

About 100 miles to the TX State line now. Whoot Whoot!
    🙂

    • rvsueandcrew says:

Suzi, your adventure is such fun to follow! I’m living vicariously through your reports, getting my “fix” for life on the road and also reliving the excitement and anticipation of picking up a Casita at the factory.

One hundred miles for one hundred smiles when you get there! Do stay in touch. I’m loving this!

Another day to remember for a very long time…..
      🙂

      • Kitt says:

        Suzi,
You will know you have it made, when you stand next to your Casita for your commemorative photo! They take it just before you pull out. We recieved a calendar with the picture as it’s main photo. Hopefully they still do this for new owners.

Congrats and Enjoy all the days to come!!
        Kitt

    • MollyLuvsRoadtrippin (WA) says:

Good luck with your pick-up of your new Casita!! I am still loving mine nearly 3 years later and remember well the exciting day it was delivered to me brand new. Have a great time – KOAs are good for a shake-out, but longer term they ALL seem to be right along major freeways and too noisy for my enjoyment.

    • Geri in the FL panhandle! says:

Suzicruzi, there is another wonderful NM state park campground about 20 north of interstate 10 and Deming that you could enjoy, City of Rocks State Park. They have Both full hook ups and a lot of beautiful boondocking sites!

Santa Fe is a zoo! We stayed at the KIA there and we were crammed like sardines! The downtown streets are very narrow and Chuck was frazzled after pulling our 5th wheel thru town! I’m not saying don’t go, just don’t go if you are over tired from the long drive from Texas!

City of Rocks would be a nice place to get acquainted with your new (congrats) Casita! Also if you are taking the interstate North to Santa Fe, there are 3 more State Parks just off the interstate! The only name I can remember tho is Elephant Butte, where we met Sue the first time!

      Enjoy your new Casita!!💗

  7. Pamela Campbell says:

The light color of the floor is so flattering to those boys!😁 Fun to see all the decor plans.
    Thanks, Sue.
    Happy house adventures!
    Pamelab in Houston for now

    • rvsueandcrew says:

Thanks, Pam. Our house adventures are very sedate today. I painted trim yesterday. Today I’ll probably ride into town for more paint supplies. Other than that, it’s movie time!

That floor is the porch. Nancy and I plan to paint it, too. 🙂

Keep cool. I hear it’s hot in Houston.

  8. Ladybug in Mid-Tenn says:

I need to quit speed reading. I thought this:

Simple: Share the rope and hold up your end.

    Said this:

Simple: Share the rope and hold up your rear end.

I don’t have an answer as to why.

    • rvsueandcrew says:

Well, Ladybug, don’t feel weird. I thought something similar when I wrote that line. Gee, will people think of rear end? Ha!

    • Cynthia in San Clemente says:

LOL!!!! Speed reading sometimes gets me in trouble, but speed typing ALWAYS gets me in trouble!!!

  9. milliehubbard says:

Yes, I love seeing all the décor plans and photos!! And of course pics of the boys are always enjoyable…especially of them playing together. Have fun with nesting…it won’t be long before your family is together and the boys have a “sister”!!

    • rvsueandcrew says:

Won’t it be fun, millie, to witness the three of them together, getting to know each other, finding their order in the pack and so forth. We already know who will be Top Dog, of course. I love terriers. Although I don’t have any experience with Westies, I’m confident Marg will hold her own with the boys.

Thanks for the feedback on the decor and house stuff. It’s helpful for me. I hope you are having a good summer, millie.

  10. Linda K in Florida says:

I read your blog off and on (mostly on) when I have the time. I never make comments. But today I have to. It just warms my heart to see how much of a loving forever home that Roger has. You are a wonderful woman RV Sue. And Reggie couldn’t ask for a better big brother. Thank you for saving Roger and sharing you adventures with all your readers. Love from a part time vanner in Florida.

    • rvsueandcrew says:

How nice to hear from you, Linda, and bringing such a lovely message. No, I’m far from “wonderful,” but thanks for the compliment. I’m like everyone else here. We try to do what’s right and good.

Roger has turned out to be an absolute delight. I wasn’t that keen on adopting him, you know. He seemed like more than I wanted to take on at the time. It didn’t take long before his sweet nature could not be missed. He bonded with Reggie immediately and I truly believe he would’ve become severely depressed if we hadn’t returned to him.

Part time “vanner,” eh? That’s great! Thanks for reading my blog and for becoming a blogorino!

  11. Val R. Lakefield Ontario, says:

That first photo of the boys together is frame worthy. Love it. I have enjoyed your blog format of house talk & pics of past camps. Good to see the old crew in pics now & then.
Just finishing week long heatwave here in Ontario…91 but with humidity making it feel like 109. With no A/C in the house, the lake provided relief. ..Heat is returning in a few days.

    • rvsueandcrew says:

      Hi, Val,

Sounds like the heat is “waving” all across the continent. I don’t doubt your “91 but with humidity” is much more uncomfortable than our 102 degrees. I hope the lake moderates the next heat wave for you.

Thank you regarding the photo of the boys. I’m so proud of those two knuckleheads, how cute they are and such good pals. It amazes me how rough they play at times and yet they hardly ever hurt each other and never on purpose. They know our routine and are agreeable all day long. Even Roger tries not to overdo the barking.

  12. Hi Sue, I think your house will be amazing once it is finished being decorated. Your sister seems to have the touch on finding hidden treasures. The boys look so happy playing together.

    • rvsueandcrew says:

You’re right, Lisa & Connie. Nancy does have a talent for decorating. That’s why I’m keeping my opinions (few as they are) about house furnishings, paint colors, etc. to myself. I don’t want to mess her up! 🙂

The boys are happy. Right now they’re napping in their beds on the floor nearby.

  13. AZ Jim says:

Hi Missy and all. I am doing much better, Detta still having those arthritis pains which are very debilitating. All of my vitals are good. I want to thank those who prayed, think it helped. I’ll be back in full form before long, meanwhile you guys take care of yourselves. Hi R and R….*Hugs all around*

    • Barb in Florida says:

Good to hear you are feeling better. Sending some prayers, love and gentle hugs to sweet Detta. So glad you are home and together.

    • rvsueandcrew says:

HEY, EVERYBODY! JIM IS BACK! YAY!

      Hi, Jim,

Gosh, I’m really sorry Detta is still suffering. It’s difficult to want to do anything when you’re in pain. May she have relief and soon.

Hugs to you both. Thanks for checking in…. Keep getting better!

    • Geri in the FL panhandle! says:

Only thing I can recommend for Detta is CBD oil! Medical marijuana! It’s legal in AZ and believe me, I have been thru more pain than I thought I could stand with my back after my bad fall! It will take about a month or so before she starts to feel less pain, but soon after she will have noticeably less pain!
Honestly Jim, please try! All natural herbal medicines take a bit longer to work, but none of the harmful side effects that come with prescription drugs! Ok, off my soapbox now! Prayers for both you and Detta!🙏

      • Barbara in Phoenix says:

I watch the jim baker show and his Mil has debilitating pain in a foot that had to be amputated and sever artritis. After she was sent home from the hospital with nothing to curb the pain, a natropedic doctor had her try the medical marijana. Within two weeks her poor hands started to straighten out and all pain was gone. Pain is an awful thing to tolerate it takes away your peace of mind, and robs you of your sleep. I am praying for Detta too that she will be relieved of the pain that she is suffering. Jim it is so good to here that you are on the mend. Love your stories too.

Sue enjoyed your blog and how you sisters are decorating your home . How exciting!

When we first came to Arizona we had a house built for us out in the country. We decided to change the asphalt roof to a tile roof that had a lot angles and had to be cut with a noisy tile saw. This was in august and the crew started every morning at 4:00 am to noon every day. The contractor had all his workers take salt pills to replace the electrolite lost because of heavy sweating.

Loved your pic’s as usual and the antics of the crew! Keep cool and well hydrated, it got up to 115 here in phoenix yesterday.🔥

    • weather says:

Hi, Jim, I’m so happy to know you are doing much better. I hope to hear that’s true for Detta soon, too. I’m still praying for both of you, hugs appreciated and being sent back to you.

  14. Judy J. in S.C. says:

Hope all have a great weekend. Kind of like a bonus, after our mid-week holiday. I love Nancy’s taste in her decorating finds! Hope she has a Habitat for Humanity in her area. Ours is really good for the type treasures you’re wanting. My daughter in love made a great partial privacy divider screen for on their deck; out of old doors from there. Sounds strange but it really is pretty glamorous. Meanwhile, we all do our best to keep cool!

    • rvsueandcrew says:

      Hi, Judy,

Clever idea for an outdoor privacy screen. Unique, attractive, and didn’t cost a fortune.

Yeah, it’s great to have a thrift store close by with quality items.

The one near Nancy has excellent inventory which is why she’s buying stuff there, rather than waiting until she’s here. She’s in a high end, cosmopolitan area, so the “pickins” are good.

Yes, do your best to keep cool in the South Carolina heat and humidity. Unless you’re by the ocean, it’s pretty much like what I had at my house in Georgia. Two- showers-a-day weather!

    • Lisa in San Diego says:

      “daughter in love” — sweet!

  15. Sandy from Lancaster, PA says:

Those two pups of yours are mighty cute. It’s so precious that they have each other.

  16. I love your (or your sister’s) stories of the treasures she is finding for your house. As my spouse and I were wandering around our area of town checking out garage sales this morning, we remarked that no, we don’t need anything but we did find a few “useable treasures.” In my case, it was a stack of new microfiber and dish towels for $1 and a red cast iron spoon rest (discovered it’s an antique) for $1 at a church rummage sale.

As a devotee of books about simple living, I am always striving to keep our household stuff at a minimum, plus as much as I would love to do it, not buy brand new stuff. Why buy a new brand name recliner when I can get one at a sale for $15, which only required a bit of repair? And I love that chair!

So now I’m reading a new book titled, “A Life Less Throwaway” by Tara Button, a discussion about when you do buy new, to buy something that will last, a practice we’ve always tried to follow, as difficult as it can be sometimes. The Amazon link is

A Life Less Throwaway: The Lost Art of Buying for Life

Keep the photos of the boys coming; love to see their sweet faces.

Robin… I removed the Amazon link you provided with one that has my code. When people enter Amazon through a coded link, everything they purchase in the 24 hours that follow, earns a commission for me. That’s why I try to catch the links blogorinos post and replace them. — Sue

    • rvsueandcrew says:

      Hi, Robin,

I enjoyed your “stories” about hunting for inexpensive treasures in your neighborhood. It’s fun, isn’t it. I’ve haven’t been able to do much of that while living in a 17-foot trailer. Even now, I don’t bargain shop much because I know Nancy is doing that for us.

I do look for clothes occasionally. Haven’t had much luck with that lately, plus it’s too hot.

    • I wasn’t sure how to do it so thanks for the correction.

      • rvsueandcrew says:

Oh, you weren’t wrong. It is something I have to do. I also have to write something so all readers will know what kind of link it is. 🙂

  17. Becky in NJ says:

Aww, I had two male dogs who were buddies, and they used to run and play that way, each dog gripping one end of a shared toy! The biggest difference was, one of them weighed 100 lbs, the other one 90 lbs. I used to love to watch the fun they had together. ❤

    • rvsueandcrew says:

Aww, I bet that was sweet to watch. You probably saw in your big boys what I see in my little ones: They seem to enjoy the sharing of the toy or maybe it’s the feeling of being attached to each other. Their happiness is obvious. I’m glad the photos reminded you of your crew.

      Thanks for commenting, Becky.

  18. Pauline in Mississippi says:

Love the pictures of Reggie and Roger!!! and Love the pictures as you decorate your new home. Nancy has such a eye for decorating and putting things together to make it all look so classy…or classic. I know your home will be a show piece in the end.

Glad Mike is being wise about being up on that roof in the heat. Heat exhaustion and heat strokes are so dangerous!!!

Love to you and the Crew.

    • rvsueandcrew says:

      Hi, Pauline,

Love to you and everyone. I think of y’all often. Your New York trip is coming up soon. I hope Brian is being wise when cutting trees on these sweltering summer days.

  19. Ruthie in Fontana says:

Hi Sue thanks for the post. The pic’s of Reggie and Roger are priceless. I keep a folder of all of my dogs, my families dog, my neighbor’s dogs, and I am happy to say I put Reggie and Roger in the folder today. Now when they pop up on my screen saver they will be bringing me great memories of your story. Make sure and tell the roofers to take breaks every hour or so, heat stroke is nothing to mess around with.

    • rvsueandcrew says:

      Hi, Ruthie,

You’re welcome (re this post). On behalf of my crew, I’m honored that Reg and Rog are in your dog folder. 🙂

Reading your comment has me making a mental note to look up the symptoms of heat stroke so I can be alert to any signs of it in Mike or his helper.

  20. Calvin Rittenhouse says:

Hi, Sue! I’m glad Reggie and Roger and you are enjoying stationary life.

I’m not posting pictures of my place, but let’s just say I’m not good at furnishing and decorating. However, I know that a little hiding place such as the one in the coffee table finds a use sooner or later.

I understand Mike wanting to work every hour he can. The old phrase “make hay while the sun shines” explains it. There’s always a balance between that and self care. I worked on a mall roof crew in College Station, Texas, one year around Memorial Day. I didn’t last long in that heat.

    • rvsueandcrew says:

      Hi, Calvin,

Good to see you here. I treasure the male blogorinos because they are vastly outnumbered (plus I like ’em). 🙂

There’s no need for Mike to push himself. We’re paying him by the job, not by the hour. Unless, of course, he has an inside job somewhere else. Hmm… “inside job”… That sounds nefarious. If the monsoon season arrives in full force, afternoon rain will be a factor, too. It sprinkled a little today and a hot breeze is blowing. Forecast is for possible rain this weekend. Hope the weather gurus are correct!

  21. Geri in the FL panhandle! says:

Such FUN photos of Reggie and Roger! They really have become great pals and fun for all of us to watch! I love that lamp and table Nancy picked for the new home! Yup! It’s gonna look great!💗
    Hugs to all!

    • rvsueandcrew says:

Same to you, Geri. When Nancy arrives with a truckload of furniture, kitchen stuff, etc., it will be like Christmas morning for me. I think of stuff we might need and then realize, oh, I bet Nancy already has one of those. All I have to do is wait for the goodies to be delivered. 🙂 Well, and paint. 🙁

      • Marilyn in S. FL says:

Well, if I have the choice between painting and shopping for furnishings, I would be the painter as long as someone chooses the colors. I am like you, Sue.

Happy painting. It looks so nice when finished. Stand back and admire. Take before and after photos for later.

        Marilyn

        • rvsueandcrew says:

          Good morning, Marily,

I wanted to show before and after photos of the rooms I paint. I tried and the photos would be great if I ever write a post entitled “Watching paint dry.” 🙂

          • weather says:

If I remember correctly, your sister Pauline once commented saying you write so well that you could make watching paint dry entertaining 🙂

            She’s right!

  22. Jan Johnson says:

The photos of those two are so cute! And I love the coffee table. And the lamp! It will be such fun for you to see what comes to decorate your new home.

  23. Elizabeth says:

Those items your sister found look just charming, Sue…good taste!! We are in the throes of figuring out what to do with Daughter’s house here…and how to try to make it less smelly…argh!! It is up to her, but we help. Today I tried with my not great tool to extract some very thorny weeds near the entrances…plus some blackberry vines…I just decided to cut them at ground level…and later we will tackle them more. It is important that the kids not get thorns in them!! In a crack near the garage door, lots of weeds, including those thorny ones…so again, I cut them as close as I could and poured some strong vinegar on the crack…went in the house then to do other things. Hubby was out there…a millipede came out of the crack! Gives me some hope it will at least discourage the weeds for awhile.
Happy painting etc Sue…cute photos of the pups too, of course!! Tis fun to have dogs that play well together and entertain us!!

    • Pat McClain says:

Excellent homemade weed killer. 1 gallon vinegar, 2 cups epsom salt, 1/4 cup Dawn dish soap. Mix and put in sprayer. It took the weeds 4 years to begin growing again in the crack in front of my garage. I’m going to make another batch and spray it in the little yard around my air conditioner. Spray or pour some where you cut those thorny weeds at ground level. Bet they don’t come back!

      Pat

      • rvsueandcrew says:

I’m writing this recipe down! Thanks, Pat.

      • Elizabeth says:

Thanks so much, Pat…good to know yours worked so well for so long!! We live in rainy ville…so it may not work so long here…but however long it would…at least it is not toxic!!

    • rvsueandcrew says:

Good morning, Elizabeth. You do what you can to be helpful. We can’t fix everything we’d like to for those we love, but we can do what we can do, right? Thanks for the happy painting wish. I’m moving slowly around my bedroom, painting the trim.

      • Elizabeth says:

Yes Sue, we do what we can to be helpful, indeed! Well, slowly painting trim is a good speed I found in the past…heh, easier to get it all just right if not rushing!!

  24. weather says:

Gosh, it’s a good thing Mike wasn’t that sick just from working on the hot roof. At least now, if he is cautious not to become over-heated, he can continue making a living with his business.
Nancy’s job causes her stress, that’s not healthy, either. I feel badly for her, and will be glad when she no longer needs to go to her job anymore. Interestingly, both of you chose to leave the state in which you lived at retirement. You not only get to enjoy leaving stressful jobs, you both get to move onto something wonderful in your lives.
What a great lesson your adorable little guys teach 🙂 !

    • rvsueandcrew says:

      Good morning, weather,

Your comment has me thinking about retirement and how we adjust from the restrictions and responsibilities of work to the open horizons, lack of schedules, and the removal of an external force getting us going and occupied day after day. I wonder about retirement being defined as the absence of a job. Some people find that a difficult adjustment and I might have, too. For Nancy and me, retirement is a beginning, not an end. Not a loss, but a gain. That makes all the difference. Leaving the state for “a new life” and many unknowns is exciting!

Yes, it’s good that Mike was given a warning via headache-with-dizziness. Now he knows how to avoid catastrophe.

      Happy Saturday, weather!

I just can’t get over how much those two dogs are so alike! Two peas in a pod! I don’t think they’d could get more alike if they were litter mates! And to remember, you had to “think about it longer than a MINUTE” to keep Roger!!! A match made in heaven!!!

    Thanks for the photos!

      Good morning, Lauri,

My delay in seeing Roger for who he really is illustrates the unreliability of first impressions. When considering a dog for adoption, especially if one has a preconceived notion of how that wished-for dog should look and/or behave, a hasty rejection may keep you from finding “a match made in heaven.” I should have known that.

I recall the time when I fostered dogs for an adoption non-profit. I’d go down to the county animal shelter the day before kill day, pick out a dog whose time had run out, take the dog home, and give him or her a beauty make-over.

When the dog was ready to be available for adoption, he or she, long ignored at the animal shelter, would have people lining up to adopt.

I love the photos of the white dogs against the white background with only the rope as color. Looks like art!

I have been thrift store shopping since the 80’s. Used to be able to find cool bargains on things. Sometimes you still do, but some stores act like they’re Macy’s. Lol

I only have 9 days til I hit the road with my little doggie. Can’t wait. My suburban and my 29′ trailer.

SO enjoy your blog. And Reggie and Roger’s antics. They are so cute together. Thank you for sharing them with us.

Try to stay cool – it’s in the 90’s here in Oregon.
