Early morning in the forest — Natural Bridge Campground

Our day starts with a walk around the campground.

The signs of autumn appear in the changes of light through the trees . . .. . .  and the first blush of color on leaves.

Spike sniffs the air and makes his marks.

Bridget rides in her stroller and enjoys the tour.

We meet another camper and Spike says hello.

Everywhere there is a delight for the eyes.

The soft sound of the river is ever present.

My heart fills with gratitude.

I could stay in these moments forever.

  1. Just lovely, Sue. I, too, feel fortunate for the sights and views of this wonderful time of year. Very fortunate to be able to live in the midst of it all.

A beautiful post Sue. The world certainly is gorgeous. Color is coming to the Blue Ridge Mountains here. It is beautiful but fall always feels a bit like a sad time to me somehow unlike spring which always seems bursting with joy.

But we can all certainly use this day of balance in both Fall and Spring. Happy Fall Equinox to you and your crew.

Chuck and I have often said how lucky we have been to have lived this life as we go wheeling down the highway to new adventures! So happy it is happening for you too! Beautiful campground, gorgeous photographs! Keep on living the life!

Sue, such a nice post. I would stay there for weeks. Hope all is well with you.

You (I was gonna say lucky but one makes his luck) lady. What beauty and as one who believes in today, I see through your eyes the beauty and I enjoy it. One never really knows how long our trail is but it’s the joy along the way that makes it so sweet. It is how one looks at things. Like the long road from San Diego to Las Vegas and how someone once remarked to me the sides of the roads (out in the sands) are littered with millions of broken bottles. My next trip I paid attention to that but saw it as a sea of diamonds shining in the afternoon sun. Even here in the deserts of Arizona one can find beauty if only we look for it. Thanks for the update Sue, and I hope little Bridget is doing better. Looking forward to the little trip to Sedona on the 2nd. Travel safely, Jim

Susan..oh gosh what has happened to Spike? I have not ben able to follow you like I want to. You know why. But I am here in the background. Please write and tell me what happened to this baby. I have a good vet here who will help her. Can you come home?

  17. Kathryn says:

Consider applying for a credit card called Care Credit It is for pet emergency and is accepted by most vets. There is a grace period where there is no interest. You can apply on line and will know in 24 hours. Keep this just for this cause and it can only be used for pets.
Bridget needs a vet internist and she can’t wait 10 days if she is in pain. Do you want me to find you one in the closest town? I can’t take pets suffering let alone for 10 days. What is the closest vet school? Look up vet internists in your area and skip the general vet and don’t wait. Who cares if the bill is cheap if she is left in pain without care. A cheap bill won’t matter if she is hurting. Your instinct was right cheap usually means not the best. I would take her somewhere else and not back to that creepy place. My vet internist here in Marietta will fix her up. I just looked back and read up on what is going on and it seems vague as to its cause. Is this the dog that sort of nipped at the other dog a while back? Maybe she wasn’t feeling well then. I am upset..

Love the Fal. Every season has it’s sights and sounds. In the summer, the smell of fresh cut grass and sometimes wild onions. In the fall it is the smell of wood burning. In my back yard, it is the sound of the acorns falling and bouncing on my deck. The sight of busy squirrels keeping my dogs on alert.

  26. Marcia says:

Your photos just keep getting better and better. These really bring home the essence of early Fall.
And your Crater Lake pics were lovely!
