Canine Corner: “Brainstorming” by Spike and Bridget
“I know! I know! I got one, babe! Listen to this — I, Spike, do hereby resolve to eat more chicken.”
“No, no, NO! That’s not a new year’s resolution. That sounds more like a bucket list.”
“Okay, how’s this? I, Spike, do hereby resolve to eat buckets of Kentucky Fried Chicken.” Heh-heh.
“Cut it out, Spike. We have to come up with our resolutions for 2014 or RVSue’s going to get all mad and stuff. Stop fooling around.”
“Well, I dunno. You do one then.”
“Okay. . . Let’s see . . .
“I, Bridget, hereby resolve to be quiet when RVSue goes into Wal-Mart.”
“Oh, gimme a break. That’s way too easy. All ya’ hafta’ do is shut your big mouth.”
“My big mouth? MY big mouth? What about you hollering at RVSue because she hasn’t put supper out soon enough to suit you?”
“That’s different. A guy gets hungry and hasta’ eat regular.”
“Well, I think my resolution is a good one. RVSue will like it a lot. She really hates it when I cry in the parking lot. So think up your resolution, Spike. C’mon, make up a good one.”
Oh, coyote crap. Why do we hafta’ do this junk anyway? Women! Always comin’ up with dumb stuff guys don’t wanna’ do.
“Well, Spike? I’m waiting.”
“I’m thinkin’, Bridge! Hold your horses! . . . groan . . . I, Spike . . . uh . . . I, Spike, do hereby resolve . . . to not smack my lips when eating rotisserie chicken. How’s that?”
“Spike! Good heavens! Get your mind off chicken! Gosh, you’re HOPELESS! Oh no, here comes RVSue . . . .”
“Stay cool, girl. Stay cool.”
“What are you going to tell her? All this time and you’ve got nothing!”
“Aw, that ain’t true. That ain’t true at all, Bridge. . . .
I got YOU, babe.” Heh-heh.

I’m first! Now back to read Canine Corner.
Congratulations, Sneaky Susan! 🙂
Spike and bridget are very talkative today. Hi Sue.
Ahhhhhhhhh I get it. The race is to be first even if it means reading the blog after the victory.
Yes Jim, yes it is. 🙂
Hi, Jim,
Missed you. It’s a good day to be in Arizona! Click on “enlarge” on the temperature map in the sidebar. Then scroll down to the third map “Wind Chill.” Brrrrr!
Can’t believe it – BEST Canine Corner ever! I think Spike has the idea on New Year’s resolutions.
Spike is such a guy. 🙂
Love Spike’s pic thinking of chicken resolutions! And Bridgets slit eyed waiting scene! It’s probably exactly what they’re thinking LOL. Love, love, love you and the crew in your canoe. I feed my dogs chicken, rice & peas or green beans. they get carrots for snacks…they love carrots. Sometimes I give them beef jerky from Costco. AZ will soon be turning warm starting next month. My relatives came to visit me one year in February from the north country…they wanted the a/c on in 70 degree weather LOL!!
That reminds me… When I lived in Florida, the tourists would be in bathing suits on the beach in winter while the residents wore jackets.
I’m very glad to be in southern Arizona right now!
After years of living in a hot desert climate, I still put on a jacket… over my sweat shirt… when it is 70 or under.
rita dogs need real meat not vegetables.
She says she feeds them chicken as well.
LOL good thing I wasn’t drinking anything…thanks for the great laugh from the Canine Corner.
On a side note would you believe it’s supposed to get down to 8 degrees tonight here in NE GA (Jefferson near Athens). I like cool weather but not frigid.
I believe it! And the wind chill will make it worse!
Good ol’ Jefferson. I remember eating BBQ at a joint in Jefferson.
Somehow, I think Spike will come closer to keeping his resolution a lot better than Bridget ever will in keeping hers…..
You may be right, Ladybug. Bridget is a screamer.
Hilarious, one of the best canine corners yet.
17 degrees tomorrow here in VA. Beach. But only for a day thank god.
Hi, Alan,
Gee, here I am annoyed with the wind on a sunny day with temps in the 60s…
We had -8 yesterday here in southern Illinois, but today is a balmy 16. It’s been zero or under since Sunday.
Not a day for a walk in the park… Stay warm!
I enjoy canine corner, so cute. I think Spike’s first resolution was just perfect.
Hi, Debra… He does love chicken!
Hey, Spike we have rotisserie chicken tonight! Why don’t you come over? Molly can’t have the leftovers, she gets a sick stomach of it. Maybe you could “help out”?
:))
Cute story, Sue! Love it.
Hi, Bea,
Those rotisserie chickens are so handy. We usually get two meals out of one.
I just bought one too… must be a trend. Mugsy only gets the scraps. I get the good stuff.
Oh ~~ this is way too cute! I love it when Spike and Bridge have a conversation. I just finished reading “The Art of Racing in the Rain” (I think that’s the exact title. I just loaned it to someone so it’s no longer in my possession to confirm!). It’s a dog telling the story of its master and his family. Excellent reading. I’ll never look at dogs the same way again. They’ve got a lot to tell us … and teach us. Have a wonderful 2014.
You have a wonderful year, too, Paula!
Love the expletive. Coyote crap. Gotta remember that one.
Well, bullsh*t doesn’t fit in the desert environment. Plus he likes the alliteration.
Laughing out loud here. Thanks for making my evening. From freezing (literally) Michigan….at -6 so far tonight..heading for -14 or so. Before windchill. Sigh.
I’m glad the crew made you laugh. That cold is certainly nothing to laugh about. I hope it doesn’t last long.
Ha Ha!!! The Ballad and Spike and Bridget in 2014 has just begun. I await their further adventures and efforts of RV Sue to rein them in. 🙂
There’s no reining in Spike. Bridget wants to please, but Spike does whatever he wants to do, whenever, wherever!
MN. colder than MI. Now that’s a terrible contest to have. We’ve got -40 wind chill and -17 degree temp.
Sue you and your crew are doing a good job of keeping us entertained during our cold snap. Hope the cold doesn’t come to your area.
I need to make another post today. It’s the least I can do from sunny Arizona. (Ooh, that was bad!)
Hang in there, Darlene. It will warm up someday!
Cute! Thanks for the chuckles!
Everyone stay safe trying to keep warm! Isn’t this ridiculous weather?
The winter of 2014 will be talked about for years to come. This is an event I’m glad to miss!
Yes, everyone stay safely at home and keep warm!
Chicken, we love chicken, especially cooked on our Weber Q.
Listen to those canines.
I am back safe and sound
If there was ever a trip that let me test the limits of my SD the last three weeks would be it.
Started below Waco ,first night Tyler state park great weather just windy,Miss the next night As we pulled of the highway going to the campground I heard a siren, thought it was a cop pulling me over but no cop. We got to the campground found out a tornado was within 2 miles of us then the bottom fell out ,several inches of rain and high winds.
Drove up the trace to Nashville windy spitting snow and sleet, temps dropped into the single didits, temps below freezing all week,we pulled out for TX the morning of another bad storm but rain through it and stayed ahead of it back home .
TEXAS never looked any better to me!!!!
The Casita preformed great ,no leaks boondocked a couple night in the teens and a buddy heater kept us warm and snug, single didits we had hookups and a small ceramic heater kept us toasty, another night we used the heat strips and they kept us snug ( little trick that works for a fast warm up with the heat strips) turn on your stove top burners for a few minutes ,this circulates through the heat strips and has the trailer toasty in no time.
Had 2 problems , freezer froze some food and one window wouldn’t stay locked rolling down the road
The Casita took a licking but kept on ticking
Ron
Whew! Quite a shakedown, Ron! Nothing like a tornado, rain, wind, snow, sleet, and cold to add excitement to camping. Glad you and your Casita passed the test! Thanks for telling us about it.
OK Bridge and Spike…don’t be like me…my resolution is..duhhh- duhhh..I will never make another New Years resolution…just try that one on RVSue!
What an entertaining duo your crew has turned out to be! I love it when they talk to each other like this. Bridget the Miss Priss and Spike Mr. Rough and Ready. And coyote crap – that term is priceless!
I’m happy you enjoyed it, Cari. 🙂
