Very picturesque! BTW, Sue, I got my propane extension and quick-disconnect installed for my Wave 6 heater yesterday [I’m keeping it portable, on legs]. Tried it out and it works great! Gets really hot very quickly—no waiting for comfort! 🙂

  10. Georgie says:

I have been camping in this valley since the mid 90’s. It has always been a hidden treasure, but I am afraid more and more people are finding it. So great to see your slide show of one of my favorite places

  14. What Linda D said times two!

  15. rvsueandcrew says:

I hope you’ll excuse me for not writing individual replies. Internet connection is terrible around here. I drove into Bluff and up and down the roads chasing the elusive signal. Here at Sand Island Campground (see sidebar) I only get two bars and 1x because it’s in a low area by the river. I worked on that slideshow on and off from 9:30 this morning until 7:30 tonight.

It was worth the effort though to read your appreciative comments!

  16. Colleen, Glen Burnie, MD says:

  21. Kathy says:

TY for sharing your beautiful photos, we drove in Valley of the Gods in 2009 and it brought back the memories of the rather spiritual remoteness and geography. So enjoy seeing Bridget and Spike enjoying the Southwest.

  22. gingerda says:

    I loved the slide show!!

  23. Gayle says:

    Wow! Thanks for that!

  24. placestheygo says:

  25. Rattlesnake Joe says:

Not just the beauty of Valley of the Gods but the secret messages written in stone. The Indians have stories that tell of a time long ago when the Spaniards came and made their magic in the rocks by marking the trails.

  26. AZ Jim says:

Your photos get better every publication Sue. You’re getting to be a real pro. Enjoy your stay and be safe…Hi Crew!!

  27. Dave says:

Hi Sue…Thank you, you just helped me decide where to go when I finish my BLM stint in July here near Susanville, Ca. Also I wanted to let you know I really enjoy your site, I have read every word of it since stumbling on it a couple days ago. You also inspired me to go ahead and start my own blog. If interested, you can check me out at jwblackwater.wordpress.com. I just started so it has a long way to go. Thanks again and happy trails to you and the crew.

    • rvsueandcrew says:

I have to acknowledge with appreciation anyone who reads “every word” of my blog. Thanks, Dave. I am very glad you are with us!

I think Susanville is a great town and not just because of the name. I’m curious where you worked for the BLM. I really enjoyed the lake above Susanville.

I wish you much satisfaction and success with your blog. Beware . . . Blogging can be addictive!

      • Dave says:

To answer the BLM question, I am the volunteer host at the Hobo Camp day use area on the Bizz Johnson Trail from now until the end of July. Not very many people around and I have a lot of time to explore the trail and surrounding area and to write, which is really why I enjoy traveling alone. Thanks again for sharing your adventure.

  28. terry (australia) says:

Wow Sue what lovely pics,Your very good as a photographer. I would be very careful that the N Y Times don’t see your great pics and want to give you a job.You will have to move back into the rat race and leave all that lovely country behind.Just imagine how great it would be living back in a concrete jungle.LOL

  29. Az-Vicki says:

Just breath taking Sue! Thanks for allowing us to view this with you.

  30. Pen rowl says:

  31. Rita from Phoenix says:

Wow! Now I have to take a trip up to Utah and explore….you opened up my eyes!

  32. libertatemamo says:

Wonderful set of shots. You captured the beauty wonderfully!
    Nina

  33. Diane says:

I believe the other comments say it all, beautiful. It’s hard to believe that those formations just rise up out of the desert floor, so to speak. This shows us what nature can do given enough time, wind, and water.
    Diane

  34. Glenda Cornwill says:

    NO other word but Awesome……………….!!!!

  35. BuckeyePatti says:

Stunning! Thanks for sharing the beauty of the desert with us.

  36. Cari in North Texas says:

I echo everyone’s compliments on your photos. Breathtaking scenery! I’d heard the name but had never seen pictures of the area. Another destination for my bucket list. I cringed, though, when I saw that red dirt. I’ve lived in areas like that, and it stains and gets on everything.

    • rvsueandcrew says:

Fortunately the red dirt isn’t everywhere. I didn’t find it as bad as the red dirt in Georgia. The crew didn’t track it inside and it didn’t get on my clothes.

Glad you enjoyed the photos, Cari.
