A post while I write a post! Huh?

Sunday, April 29

I’m struggling to write a post for this blog.  It’s a struggle because I want to share some great news with you, yet it is complicated to explain.   At the rate I’m going, the post is going to take a lot of time to do right.

Therefore, I’m slapping together this post in the meantime.

Don’t worry.  This “complicated” thing has nothing to do with health problems or anything like that.  No, I’m not shutting down this blog.  (RVSue and her canine crew keeps on keeping on!)

Like I say, this is great news!

You may think this is just another one of my cliffhangers, more teasing on my part. Well, I didn’t plan it this way.  I worked on the other post for an hour and I can tell when the writing is a slow slog, like pulling a mule through deep mud.  Then I get anxious because it’s taking too long.

Therefore, while I work on that and do other necessary tasks . . . .

More dog park pics!

It’s easy to write about dogs having fun.

The beautiful border collie is named B.

Yep, that’s her name, “B just B.”

Reggie and Roger play with her a little bit.  She’s best paired with the equally energetic Trace, the golden retriever (below) who is close to B’s size.

Yesterday B and Trace kicked up the gravel as they raced and chased around the dog park.

My attempts to catch both of them in the same frame are failures.  What I got were butt shots as they zoomed out of frame.  These dogs are fast!

Our time at Quail Ridge RV Resort ends tomorrow.

On Monday we move to a new camp.  I extended our stay through the weekend so we would have hook-ups.  The temperatures at lower elevations in southern Arizona have gone into the 90s recently and it’s easier and wiser to stay put with air conditioning.

Plus the boys are having a wonderful time.

And I’m enjoying the dog park people, too!

Wish I could post a photo but right after I left this site, an ad came up for a Wayfair product, Dog Park 100% Cotton 3 Piece Reversible Quilt Set. It’s so cute! But that was weird.

  5. Denise - Richmond VA says:

    Hi, Sue,

Thank you for sharing more dog park pictures – never can have too many of those! 🙂 The 1st photo is vertical.

Looking forward to hearing your great news! We will patiently wait for you to share it with us when you are ready. Please don’t stress! 🙂

Gracie pup and I are having a bit of a lazy Sunday. I do need to get off my duff to make dinner…enchilada casserole. 🙂

Sending you, Reggie, and Roger love and hugs from me and Gracie pup! I am glad that Quail Ridge RV Park was a good fit for all of you! Safe travels tomorrow! Love the happy, smiley picture of the boys at the end of the post! 🙂

  6. Diann in MT says:

Love that last photo of the boys, gearing up with smiles and in their places. They are ready to MOVE ON, MaMa! Have fun in the exit and the points toward your northern trek. Have fun Sue and Crew!

  7. Ok a nother cliffy to hang on, but Dog Park Photos
Ill hold us over a bit,, ain’t it neat to roll on down the road with no worries.,,,, have a great week and give the Boys a huge hug from us, ok,,,,, 🐾👣👣

  8. Jolene/Iowa says:

Hi Sue, Great pics of the dogs. I am excited to hear about your great news! That picture of B or Bea or Bee, cute! Cute name and fun name! Anyway, following along and can’t wait to hear the news! Take care!

  9. Renee still in Idaho says:

Huh? What? We have to wait?! Oh boy. The suspense! Well, in the meanwhile, thank you so much for the delightful dog pics!

  10. Virginia620 AL says:

I still read. I’ve been through my 9-day trek in the DC area. Now I’ve done Jamestown, Colonial Williamsburg, and tomorrow is Yorktown. I’m really enjoying my adventure.
    Hugs to you and crew.

  11. Columbus Calvin says:

You gave us enough reassurance that I’ll put up with the cliffhanger aspect. Besides, I do enough writing to understand that frustration. Often, a nice break helps, but sometimes it takes a day or more.

I really like the header picture this time. Is that a mine to the left in the first row of mountains?

The dog park pictures are still fun. B is a pretty dog.

    • rvsueandcrew says:

      Hi, Calvin,

That photo is our boondock on Sand Mine Mesa near Overton, NV, one of my favorite free camps. That isn’t a mine; it’s a shadow from a steep cliff. The red rock mountains extend south into Valley of Fire State Park. Gorgeous scenery on that road between Vegas and Overton…

    • rvsueandcrew says:

Looked at the header photo again. Maybe you meant that area of reddish, exposed rock with a light colored strip. It’s not a mine.

  12. Stephanie Turner OR says:

I join the others in being anxious for your news. Maybe we could play 20 questions and you could ease into it that way? Oregon is getting more pleasant weather-wise by the day. I’m glad I moved here – meaning both to Oregon and now in my small home community. It’s an easy, peaceful life. And my Toby seems happy which to me is very important. Almost 3 years in Oregon. I can feel roots growing on my feet. Anyway, safe travels tomorrow and will look forward to your news. Oh, a thought. Maybe you can do a Q&A blog. I am wondering what your fondest memory of your lifestyle on the road has been. Thanks Sue.

    • rvsueandcrew says:

We can do Q & A right here in comments, except I need people to ask the questions.:)

I won’t be able to respond much under this post. Happy to answer about “my fondest memory” if I could figure out what it is. I have a bunch of them!

  13. Cinandjules 💨🌵 says:

Cliff hanger……your writing is always perfect…comical, informative and interesting.
When it’s ready to post…..we will be here!

Geeze I guess those dogs are fast! Seems like everyone is having a great time during this “stop”. Looking forward to the next.

Reg and Rog smiles are precious!

Quite windy here today….trees are losing pollen and leaves….still snowing in NY! Thelma and Louise, the hummingbirds are just about to leave their nest. Flying lessons today…flapping their wings while gripping the bottom of the nest. What a treat it was to watch them!

Enjoy the rest of the day and safe travels.

    • Denise - Richmond VA says:

      Hi, Cinandjules,

Oh, to see baby hummers in the nest getting ready to fledge! You all are so fortunate! I have ruby-throated hummingbirds that are regulars to feed and rest in my perennial flower bed. After a strong windstorm, I have found a tiny, delicate nest on the ground, and have even seen the remains of a hatched egg…about the size of a small jellybean. One day I hope to see some babies. In the meantime, I am very happy that they come to visit! 🙂

So you and Jules name your animals birds. I do the same! When it gets a bit warmer, at dusk two bats, Fred and Ginger, fly in fancy formations. 🙂

Snow in NY?! Jeez Louise! Temps will drop to the low 40’s tonight. No more frost or snow is allowed. I put away the snow scrapers and de-icing crystals. 🙂

      • Cinandjules 💨🌵 says:

If you see a hummer gathering bugs…a nest is close. Thelma is gone from the nest. She was immediately met by her mom, Mags. Louise is looking a bit lonely. That wind is rocking the nest like a boat on the ocean!

We have names for all of our visiting creatures:
NY=June the June bug, Vera the Vole, Chippie the chipmunk,
AZ= Thumper and Peter- jackrabbits, Grace the gecko

BATS—oh heck no….gotta draw the line somewhere!

      • Krystina McMorrow says:

I hear you!!! 1″ of snow here in Sutton Vermont last night.

        • Denise - Richmond VA says:

          Enough!!

          • Columbus Calvin says:

Here in Central Ohio, spring has arrived, sort of. We had freeze warnings last night, but tomorrow is under an air quality alert, which is a summer thing. One thing about the weather here: it’s never dull.

            • Denise - Richmond VA says:

Monday morning we had frost at 36 degrees. This morning it was 46, with a high of 80-something. Crazy!

  14. Barb in Florida says:

    Hi Sue & Crew

Thanks for the post. I was amazon shopping when I came out the page would not refresh. That happened one other time. It’s cuz there was a New One!! Thanks for keeping us sorta informed. Better than everyone freaking out because there’s no post on Sunday. Kinda like calling your mom on Sunday. You expect her to be there.

I made a cute dog blanket I called “dog park”. The fabric had different dogs, bones and red fire hydrants. It so reminded me of your pictures. Sold right away at the farmer’s market. Should have made two. No takers on the two cat blankets this time.

Look for some Mary Kay and a 6 pack of smoke detectors. Our 18 year olds have been chirping and FREAKING out the dog. Ready to run away. Poor thing. Love to you and boys.

    • rvsueandcrew says:

      Hi, Barb,

I’m glad your dog blanket sold so easily! I bet it was the cuteness. 🙂

Thanks for the orders! I see the smoke detectors. I’m confident the Mary Kay items will show up shortly. You are a sweetie! Love ya!

  15. weather says:

When I saw the title of this post in my email I didn’t know what to expect. At first I thought you might have hit publish by accident midway through one. Now that I’ve read it I understand. Sometimes it takes a while for me to find the right way to share good news, too.

During the month before my wedding I considered telling a few people I worked with that the relationship I was in was more than casual dating, but…I was so used to keeping my personal life private that I was struggling with that boundary. One morning they asked me what I’d done the day before. When I said I got married there were a few moments of stunned silence before the hugs and questions began, Ha! Not that I think that’s what your news is, it just makes me laugh remembering how my own dilemma was solved.

Staying where you could use your air conditioner was a wise decision. And, Yippee!, we got to see more pictures from the dog park 🙂 . B is a beautiful dog, but your boys are still the cutest ones there.

  16. Karen Waskow says:

    Sue,

I’ve found that when writing is difficult or just not gelling for whatever the reason, best to sit around with the material that’s floating around and let it have it’s way with me; just keep company with it. In the end, everything has it’s own time and when the time is right, the words will come, often from a more connected and mysterious place, I have found:).

Also, I was wondering how one signs up for your Amazon thing so you might benefit from my endless Amazon purchases. I have tried looking everywhere for how to find you on their list and just can’t seem to figure it out.

    warmly,

    – karen

    • rvsueandcrew says:

Thank you, Karen, for the writing advice. Often I have to wait for it to “gel.” 🙂

About shopping Amazon from my blog: See at the bottom where it says to use any of the links to browse and shop? That’s all you have to do. Go to Amazon using any of those links, search for the things you want to buy, proceed as usual… By using one of those links, my code is embedded in your choices. You won’t see anything different, but I will get credit. Thanks so much for asking and for wanting to do this!

  17. Susan in south central WA says:

Not a cliffhanger??? OK 20 questions always start with animal, vegetable or mineral. so:
    Q1- Is it an animal?

  18. Val R. Lakefield Ontario says:

    Hi Sue
We have had such terrible news in Toronto this week. I can’t wait to hear your good news.
It is great to see your boys having so much fun socializing. They are so cute. We got the sweetest boy in at our shelter on Thursday. He is 8 months old and his name is Richard.
He looks something like Reg but fur a touch longer. He will get adopted very quickly.
I can’t wait to see him again on Monday. 🐾

  19. Cynthia from San Clemente says:

Patience is so not one of my virtues, this waiting is going to be tough for me. But no pressure – LOL. Thank you for satiating us with dog pics. I really like the first one where Reggie is obviously reading some p-mail and Roger is looking down at him as if to say, “Quit reading and get up here and play with me!”

Standing by … thumbs twiddling … deep sigh …

    • rvsueandcrew says:

That’s not Reggie below the ramp — That’s the little dog at the bottom of the previous post, the one with the sweet face. 🙂

  27. Stephanie Turner OR says:

Some of these guesses are just too good. Mine is you found a fabulous winter home in the SW and will be settling down for 6 months of the year. You mentioned in a post a few back you wouldn’t be keeping the PTV 7 more years and I wondered if you’d had some alternative plan formulating. I’ll be haunting my email waiting…waiting…waiting…

  28. Denise - Richmond VA says:

    Hi, Sue!

My sister wanted to give you a heads-up that she and my brother-in-law placed an Amazon order today, about an hour ago. She hopes that you receive credit for the items. She said they clicked on a listed blogorino order, but then had to access a gift registry. Fingers crossed that you see these items: two (2) cribs and mattresses, one (1) changing table, and a switchplate cover that is decorated with jungle animals. 🙂

Baby update: Thank you to everyone for keeping my family in your thoughts and prayers. At 23 weeks, my niece was admitted to the hospital for observation and to monitor the twins. My little peanuts heartbeats were strong, they were sized where they should be @ 23 weeks, and the fetal monitor showed no signs of distress. The second day, their doctor decided to do a pelvic exam (this had been off limits since 20 wks when they found my niece was 2cm dialated, and the lower baby’s embryonic sac protruding from her cervix). More good news…she was still steady 2cm dialated and the baby’s sac was no longer protruding. After observing them for 3 days, they sent them home. She still can go into labor at any time, but the docs felt that she and the babies were stable, and that it would be less stressful for them to be at home. Needless to say, my nephew and his wife were very glad and relieved to get this news. The doctors told them that they were very surprised that the babies had made it this far….they were certain miscarriage was imminent. Well, this little family has been surrounded and blessed with lots of love, prayers, positive thoughts and energy. My little peanuts said, “Don’t you dare count us out! No way!” My sister has said these are two bad-assed babies….not to be reckoned with!! Thursday, 05/03 will be 27 weeks. Each passing day and week is a blessing and a miracle. 🙂

Thank you, thank you, everyone! xo 🙂

  29. Susan says:

I rarely chime in. . . . However the last photo of Roger and Reggie is so cute I was compelled to venture into Blogerino Land! Roger really REALLY looks happy! Big huge smile on his face!
That first dog, B, sure doesn’t look like a BC. More like a Cattle Dog cross?

    • rvsueandcrew says:

Oh gee, I hope I didn’t mess up B’s breed. If I see the owner again, I’ll ask.

Nice having you here, Susan! I hope you will chime in again. You’re always welcome in Blogorinoland.

Roger does have a winning smile!

  30. Denise - Richmond VA says:

    Hi, Sue,

Trying to channel some creativity and help de-stress, I am (re)teaching myself to sew. I am making a quilt for each of the twins. The little girl’s will be exactly as pictured; the little boy’s will be the same, but with a blue colored background (same cute print) around the main panel. Please free to delete the link. 🙂

    http://www.blendfabrics.com/sites/blendfabrics.com/files/docs/Hello_World_Wee_Pals.pdf

For my birthday last year, I treated myself to an electronic/digital sewing machine. Soooo much easier to use than the mechanical one I used in Home Ec eons ago. (Barely passed the sewing portion of class!). Fingers crossed all goes well! 🙂

    • rvsueandcrew says:

The quilt design is adorable! What a treasured keepsake the quilts will become. You’re going to be a fantastic auntie, Denise, no matter how the quilts come out! Haha!

    • Stephanie Turner OR says:

This is an adorable quilt. I’ve been searching for a gift for a dear friend and I’m going to check this out. My sewing skills are rusty but like you I bought a new machine a year ago so no reason not to give it a go. Thanks so much for sharing.

      • Denise - Richmond VA says:

        Hi, Stephanie,

Blend Fabrics has some really cute selections. The Hello World Wee Pals fabric is designed by Cori Dantini; I love her happy, whimsical designs. I purchased the fabric from FatQuarterShop.com. They had the best price and all of the fabrics in stock required for the quilt “recipe” I chose. Sign up for their e-mail offers. They have weekly specials. Good luck with your sewing project! 🙂

      • Jo from OR says:

I’m thinking of sewing again also. What machine did you purchase?

        • Denise - Richmond VA says:

          Hi, Jo,

I purchased a Janome MOD-100 Quilting and Sewing machine from HSN (Hsn.com Item# 571-553). If memory serves, I paid $399. HSN bundled lots of extras…several feet, and the quilting table/platform. There is a link with of the live presentation listed on the HSN item page. Good luck! 🙂

      • Jo from OR says:

What machine did you purchase? I’m really wanting to get back into sewing. These quilts are precious.

        • Jo from OR says:

Meant to ask Stephanie and Denise same question.
          Thank you both

        • Stephanie Turner OR says:

I purchased a Brother. Almost went for one of the high end models they make but realized I wouldn’t utilize it enough to justify it. I was influenced by Project Runway on the brand and fortunately moderated by my common sense for the model. Also, I did purchase the Wee Pals fabric Denise shared above. It’s on its way. Thanks Denise! Cute, cute designs and should make an adorable gift if I can make it look decent.

          • Ozarkjoy says:

You don’t have to justify it. The top of the line are fun. The janome was cheaper though. I bought the one down from top as the only difference was wireless capability and I might not always have wireless available. To do over I would have bought the top of the line for $2000 more.

          • Denise - Richmond VA says:

            Hi, Stephanie,

Yes, that fabric is just too cute, isn’t it?! You will do fine – just take your time! Good luck! 🙂

            • Denise - Richmond VA says:

              Stephanie,

I am just learning to quilt myself. The easy pattern for the quilt appealed to me, too. I will probably do an easy “stitch in the ditch method”. My machine came with a foot that has a sliding guide to line up on the previous row of stitching. Kind of hard to explain – google it for a better explaination.

          • Denise - Richmond VA says:

            Hi, Stephanie,

I know what you mean about your common sense kicking in. The machine I chose will do all I need/want, with room to grow. I had originally been considering a less expensive Janome, but it’s limit would be pushed when machine quilting several layers, or sewing heavier fabrics such as denim or upholstery. If you do decide to get a Janome, Amazon has great prices on Janome branded accessories. 🙂

            • Barbara (Nashville) says:

You will love quilting this cute quilt. I love quilting, but DH’s health have limited my time at the machine. I have had my Pfaff for about 10-12 years. I love the built in walking foot.

            • Stephanie Turner OR says:

I feel compelled to confess, I don’t quilt. So that is why I bought a machine that will sew well without regard to quilting features. I know the basics of straight sewing for home decor, clothes, etc but my OCD does not do well with quilting. I loved the quilt panel because I’m not piecing anything other than adding a border and backing. My friend tells me a local quilt store will quilt it for a nominal charge. Phew. Got that confession off my chest!

          • Denise - Richmond VA says:

            Hi, Barbara,

This reply is going to end up in the wrong place….I hope you see it. Glad you are happy with your Pfaff machine. Part of my Janome bundle included the walking foot. I hope you are able to take a few minutes for yourself to sew or take Angel for a walk to get a break from caregiving. *hugs*

          • Denise - Richmond VA says:

            Stephanie,

A reply posted above in the wrong place…..

  31. Suzicruzi from The 'Couve says:

    Hiya Sue, boys, blogerinis!
When we pick up our Casita in July, do you recommend we spend a night or two close to the Casita factory? And of course my follow up Q is; will we need reservations and is it too late for that? Anyone?

    Thanks! Cruzi in the Couve.

    • rvsueandcrew says:

      Suzi,

Here is the post I wrote about my first camp with the BLT at a very nice and reasonably priced Corps of Engineers campground not far from the Casita factory: “The first glorious day of the rest of my life”

Do a web search for Oak Park Campground, Navarro Mills Lake, Corsicana to see about reservations. I didn’t have any when I met blogorinos there in mid-August, 2011.

    • rvsueandcrew says:

Reread your comment, Suzi…. You may prefer a camp with hookups for air conditioning in July.

      • bess in Oregon says:

you can use either or both “Campendium.com” or the “Ultimate Public Campground Project.com” web pages for listings of almost every campground in USA. they list public, forest service and free campgrounds and note the amenities of the sites. the use of these pages is FREE!

i use them everytime i go somewhere new to plan my trips and i also use Google Earth to see the maps.

  32. Elizabeth in WA says:

I have been wondering about the cute little girl doggie…heh! Wink…I would be attracted to her, for sure…though not sure what breed she might be. Daughter and I were talking tonight about how we miss our last doggie (Ebbie)…this week was going through, taking notes from an old Bible I used to use, and lo and behold, there were some Ebbie hairs (mostly the fine ones that fly through the air) that fell out…THAT was a sweet surprise…and yes, I kept them…taped to a 3 by 5 card with a note about finding them to remind myself later, if I forget…my daughter told me she still finds some of her hairs from time to time…we tried to clean up such but some hide out here and there.

    • rvsueandcrew says:

      Bittersweet.

      • Elizabeth in WA says:

Yes. Tis life…for me at least it always has been. But it made me remember, because those hairs were mostly found in Psalms…where in some years of my life I read as I cried…and my dear furry chum was there beside me as I did so…THAT reminder was comforting too…(PS…I STILL find Psalms my most favored of the Scriptures).

  33. in Oregon says:

    Hi Sue,
I look forward to reading your good news post when it comes. Your posts are fun to read and are giving me confidence in my chances of really enjoying striking out in my little bus/conversion in the next couple of months. I am still dog searching but haven’t made the connection to my special one yet. The shelters are sending me info daily and the ones I am interested in are gone before I can get there. Your advice and your stories are very helpful. Thank you,
    Darrell

    • rvsueandcrew says:

      You’re welcome, Darrell.

Same thing kept happening to me, when I was looking for a dog to pair with Bridget after Spike’s passing. Dogs were gone before I could get to the shelter.

What worked for me (I got Reggie!) was to show up at an Adopt-A-Pet event at least an hour before it opened. I stood by the door while they were setting up in order to be first in line. Good luck!

Who knows, maybe the right dog will find you, Roger-style! 🙂

      • Darrell in Oregon says:

Standing by the door before the start is a great idea. My dogs in the past have been “love at first sight” so I am sure it will happen soon… just being patient and positive about the future. have a great day,
        Darrell

    • Darrell,
What kind of dog are you looking for? If you had an idea, size, breed, color, attitude, let me know! My friend (here in TX) just became a legal ‘rescue’ and “sanctuary”, which will enable good searches. I would be happy to “keep an eye out” for any pup that is in your area, or in another area where you are traveling. I hope you find your ‘travel buddy’ soon!

    • Jo from OR says:

Darrell, we found our pup at the Oregon Dog Rescue in Tualatin last October. They were great to work with. I saw Vanna’ s picture and instantly knew she was the one. We were fortunate to get het the next day. We ended up naming her lil Peanut…she is so tiny & adorable. Wish you the best 🙂

Rog & Reg have the cutest smiles. This was a great thrown together post. Love the dog park dogs and their pictures.
Can’t wait for some good news…
My mind is swirling with possibilities. It’s my birthday…what the heck am i doing up at 3 am?
    Safe travels this morning.

  36. ApplegirlNY says:

Reading over the posts from the last week or so. What a great time you all had at the RV park and the doggie play ground. I have to say, though, I enjoyed the roses. How beautiful.

Waiting anxiously, like everyone else for your news. You do toy with us!

  37. Luvmyhorse-Ohio says:

I like to play detective sometimes so I’m wondering if your great news has anything to do with your “absolutely cannot miss” Friday appointment that you casually mentioned in your reply to a blogorino last week. You stated that you needed the transmission work to be completed in a timely fashion so you could keep that appointment…so we know you were out and about driving on Friday. But where did you go? What did you see? Whom did you meet? Inquiring minds want to know!

But we’ll wait with baited breath to read your news. I do appreciate you relieving my little moment of anxiety by your assurance that your news is good news and the blog will continue. I so enjoy your story-telling and writing and photos and wit.

Enjoy and savor your good fortune whatever it may be!

Am I nuts or what? I’ve been checking my email every 10 minutes all morning.

    • rvsueandcrew says:

      Oh, Cynthia, I’m sorry!

I won’t be able to post today — running around with a big Gotta Do List. Enjoy your day!

    • Cynthia from San Clemente says:

OK, why would Sue have a big “Gotta Do List”? I think she already had her dental work done, right? And we know the tranny has been replaced. There are no reported problems with the BLT. I don’t think she would add another dog at this point. She has said a number of times recently she is so happy with her life, so …..????? Looking at Becky’s list (above), I think someone special is coming to visit or Sue is going to deviate from her usual routes and go visit someone – maybe her sister? Or, she’s getting married. To Del. Or not.

  39. Chey (WA coast) says:

I hope you’re going to Alaska. What a fun post!

  40. Ladybug in Mid-Tenn says:

Wait. Did I read that correctly? ‘Enjoying the dog park people’!?! RVSue, the confirmed boondocker and naysayer of neighbors!

  41. FloridaScott says:

    Hi Sue & Crew,
Boy am I late to the party. If this were about a new rig, a new crew member, a winter home, a new travel destination etc you would find the words so Fast. No, me thinks this is something very special.

This is Human, because humans are hard to write about. You have to select your words just so. I hope your great news is the Best ever and makes you Happy with Joy!

Still tagging along Sue and enjoying all your posts. P.S. Getting real close, 4 weeks!

  42. “Going to Alaska” is on my *long list* for Sue’s Super Surprise, and there is a very remote possibility she’s going to (somewhat) begin the trip in about 2-5 weeks, and planning her journey to coincide along with someone else. It sounds reasonable to me that she ‘might’ be going to go independently, but I would guess that she would enjoy being on the same route about the same time as someone else who travels with a pet, enjoys privacy, likes to boon-dock, and likes to be away from crowds, so that there would be mutual interests. IF Sue is going to Alaska, she either has already gotten all of the vaccinations the pups would need for the journey, or else she will gather up the necessary vaccinations, paperwork, and permits as she makes her way north. If Super Sue were to go to Alaska, chances are she would need a passport or a “tourist card passport” to travel through Canada and the Yukon.
I’m not going to put this idea out here as my sole idea, ….but when I thought about the possibility, it would make sense that she wouldn’t mind being not far ahead of, or behind another person who values privacy and is respectful of others, etc., but if you’re traveling with a pet, you would have fewer concerns if you were traveling in the same regions, roads, and locals, perhaps keeping in touch for safety reasons, and for assistance if one stubbed their toe or had the sniffles, ….. you’re essentially traveling alone, …..but anyone traveling along the same route and had similar tastes & pets, not a food fanatic, isn’t materialistic, but is ‘techie’ to some extent, ALL would be valuable if you needed assistance from another individual you knew well enough to trust. ………. but those are some of the REASONS I included “ALASKA” on the list as a significant possibility.

    • Cynthia from San Clemente says:

Becky, how did Alaska even get on your radar? I don’t remember Sue ever talking about Alaska, but I could have missed it. I seem to be having more and more junior senior moments!!

      • I promise I don’t have any ‘evidence’ or ‘connections’, and haven’t been given in hints! But when I was compiling the list of things I could imagine seeing Sue planning to do, there are just no boundaries, ……..and leaving the great southwestern USA to explore and experience the ‘adventures’ of Alaska just didn’t seem unreasonable, because with her experience and the time she has had to meet people and learn all of the ‘ins & outs’ of the various possibilities, I could just SEE her deciding that this might be a good opportunity. I’ve been on a land trip, and a cruise to Alaska, and each time, I was amazed at the RVs everywhere I went, people with pets, big rigs, tents, pop-up trailers, etc., everywhere, and from May til September are the prime times to go!
My rig is older now, and I probably wouldn’t take the trip in my rig, but I certainly am sorry that I didn’t just GO back when my rig was newer!! Sue will be pretty up-to-date with the condition of her BLT and PTV right now, and she’s a confident woman, she has ‘contacts’, and (I may be all wrong, but …) I could see a scenario where a group of other independent single RVers were discussing such an adventure, and it would be a perfect opportunity for her to consider it, since the road to Alaska would still fit all of her ‘loves’, such as wilderness, independence, privacy, and abundance of freedom. Her pups are in good health, her rig is still in great shape, and she’s young and healthy, …….so I just couldn’t think of any reason she might NOT go. LOL I know I’m just speculating, ……but I can just imagine a strong, independent woman making the decision one day, and beginning her preparations and plans. Sue may not have any real interest in Alaska, but the timing just seems perfect, according to what I can imagine, and it’s a perfect time (as far as I know) for her to go! She’s got ALL OF US who would be looking after her, keeping up with her, and she’s almost certainly run across other RVers every year who will go, so she could travel ‘her way’, but still have companionship whenever she pleased. It just seems like a likely scenario to me!! So while she’s invited us to speculate, …… I’m just guessing!!
I don’t think it’s going to be close to a city, …..but there’s still of places she hasn’t explored in the USA, ……. but whatever she does, it thrills me that she will be doing it, enjoying it, and being happy! So many people “dream their time away”, ……but not Sue!! I’m a member of “Boondockers Welcome”, and one of the last people who parked their RV in my driveway was a young family who had shipped their RV over from France! ………so WHO KNOWS what Sue will do!! … but I admire her spirit!!

  43. Nivrapa in AZ says:

    Howdy Everybody!

I think I’m wa-a-a-ay too involved in this blog to be healthy. My insomnia last night was the result of the suspense of Sue’s surprise. Well, at least 90% can be attributed to Sue. Many more sleepless nights like that and this blog will need a warning that viewership may be hazardous to your health.

On the bright side of insomnia, I did manage to get all the new parts installed on my aging toilet. Oh the joys of hearing a flush with just the simple push of a lever and not seeing any blue dye leak from the tank into the bowl. I have no left over parts and it no longer leaks. It’s like I have a brank new toilet!

As I made my way through Toilet Repairs 101, I also had the opportunity to think about what Sue’s good news could be. My first thought was that Casita has hired her as a spokes person for their trailers and her best photos with the BLT would be featured in the product brochure that they mail out on the request of potential buyers. Seems plausible to me.

Next thought was that Sue has become a property owner again. Some place in southern AZ where she can park the for the winter and not have to be concerned about limiting her stay to fourteen days and could come and go exploring as she pleased. A little plot to call her own. Undeveloped land is cheap in some places in southern AZ. This idea seemed like a possibility, too.

Then came my best idea. Sue earned the title of wagon master and is leading a small caravan through UT, ID, WY, MT and then into the Canadian Rockies and ultimately on to Alaska. The caravan would need to be a limited number and a major focus would be the where and ways to boondock. Along the way there would be mini courses in griddle cooking, finding reputable repair shops, wildlife identification with special attention to birds and their calls, the art of photography in nature, and how to camp at least a quarter mile from your neighbor. Cost for this opportunity of a lifetime is reasonable and affordable, even with Sue’s expertise and experience at these skills. All caravan members would need to sign a waiver stating they would not sneak candid pictures of Sue or The Crew and would not approach the BLT without a direct invitation. Such an undertaking would not be a huge money maker for Sue but then we all know that Sue understands how to live on less and enjoy life more. Sue is a teacher at heart and educating the blogerinos is priceless to her and using the great outdoors is the ultimate classroom in her eyes.

So there you have it. Granted, the third idea was a dream in the wee hours of this morning. Golly, it was such a good dream. I was one of the lucky ones to make the trip with Sue as head wagon master. Rusty was along and brought up the rear making sure no one got left behind. The scenery and camaraderie was just outstanding and knowledge gained invaluable. Some dreams are so good that you wish there could be continued episodes on successive nights. This dream was one of those dreams.

Now you know my thoughts. I still can’t imagine what Sue’s good news is about but maybe with another night of insomnia I can come up with a few more ideas.—Audrey

I love this place…master story teller Sue with her side kicks, the two pups with stories of their own to tell, blogerinos with the most amazing thoughts to add…joy, joy and more joy…a great time had by all…it feels like family.

    GOOD MORNING, BLOGORINOS!

Your guesses turned this post into a lot of fun! Whenever I could throughout the day yesterday, I dropped in here to keep up with your comments. Thank you!

I really did not want to write a cliffhanger. Ever find yourself in a vortex of events and unexpected detours that have you hanging onto one process while leaping to another? And then your vehicle has to go into the shop?

Yep, that’s right. The PTV is back in the shop. That isn’t the “great news,” of course. It’s part of the reason I’m having difficulty producing a post.

Today I’m dealing with the transmission shop (who are treating me very well, BTW), wrapping up our stay with the RV park (paying for electric), hitching up (as soon as the PTV returns to us), moving to a new camp, going to a must-have appointment, and other stuff needing to be accomplished in a timely manner.

I apologize for being cryptic. Believe me, I’m bursting with my “great news!”

Since I’m running around again today I probably won’t be able to get involved in comments. Feel welcome to carry on without me.

Thank you for your patience and enthusiasm!

    Love y’all,
    Sue

Ok ya little stinker! We’ll wait some more. Go do what you gotta do. We’ll be here!!! Happy day and hugs to you.

      • Barb in Florida says:

Hope nobody took that wrong. Said with love, like a sister.
You do sound in good spirits & excited.

Your vortex of events description would fit when I haven’t been able to read your blog for a few days. Some of the projects (life) we find ourselves in take our time and focus. I might get a chance to check for a new post, but am too tired or distracted to put together a comment. Sometimes I’ll get a comment almost done, look at the time, then forget the whole thing cuz I GOTTA GO, crap. I was told once, that’s how you know you enjoy something. Time flies when you’re having fun. Love & hugs to you. I know I’m not the only one who’s thinking of you off & on ALL day.

      • Barbara (Nashville) says:

Can’ wait for the big news. We are, impatiently, of course, waiting for the surpise. Sorry to hear the PTV is back in the shop, hope it is not serious.

    • Stephanie Turner OR says:

Most importantly, you sound happy. So while we are anxious to hear your big news, knowing you are well and happy is enough for now. But we are waiting…no pressure!

    • weather says:

How thoughtful of you to update us when you are busy with all of that going on. Thanks for the note. Between trips, appointments and tasks I hope you can take a bit of time to just enjoy your crew, stay hydrated and breathe…

Take your time to do what needs to be done. We’ll be here! xo 🙂

  50. Cynthia from San Clemente says:

Sue, thanks for checking in and letting us know everything is ok – except with the PTV apparently. Hope it’s a minor fix, whatever it is. Thank you too for telling us you will be busy all day – that will save me from checking the blog every 10 minutes for an update on the “great news” – so perhaps I will actually get something done today!!! Gives us all something to look forward to tomorrow 🙂

Huh. A comment like yours always surprises me…cause I can’t come up with a positive spin on the words you wrote. Am I missing something? Seems to me that the owner of a blog can post if and when he/she pleases.
This blog community is a very pleasant one. Please try to be nice. Thank you!

      • rvsueandcrew says:

Thank you, Luvmyhorse-Ohio. You handled that very well in my absence.

I just woke from a nap. I was exhausted! On the go since 5:30 this a.m.

Never mind that person (deleted). He appears here occasionally with something vulgar or critical to say. It’s a mystery to me: If a person thinks that poorly of me, why come here?

        • Luvmyhorse-Ohio says:

You’re welcome, Sue. I know you don’t need a comments monitor, but I don’t care for bullies or trolls.
Besides, I didn’t want you to expend valuable energy dealing with a troll when you could be putting the finishing touches on your next post!!!
Have a good evening after your busy day.

  54. Harriet says:

Here’s my .02 cents. Sue’s gonna buy a new PTV! Can’t be have problems with your PTV (back at the tranny shop) when you’re travel God’s green earth! Whatca think?

    • Cynthia from San Clemente says:

No, I don’t think she would have invested in a new transmission if she was buying a new vehicle.

  55. rvsueandcrew says:

HINT: My great news involves another person.

I promise to post tomorrow (Wed.).

    Have a good night,
    Sue

    • …..AND?
That “OTHER PERSON” lives in Alaska, right? Right, RV Sue? (GRIN)

      • Everyone intending to go to Alaska has a “Gotta Do List”!!

      • Sue, you should write mystery stories & you would be wealthy in no time.

You always say “No Visits, No Drop-ins, No Photos, No Exceptions.” That somewhat narrows the possibilities a little bit!

So, I’m wondering how in the world this is all going to come together~~ But we know there are always exceptions that are “great reasons” for “great news”. …. because ‘another person’ still fits somewhat with my suspicions! Isn’t life unexpectedly exciting?

    • Denise - Richmond VA says:

Maybe, just maybe, Sue and Del are planning a trip together to Alaska. Each in their own rig. 🙂

  57. Mary Batt says:

    Hey Sue and fellow blogorinos!
I love these pictures! Thanks! Wait! The pix are good. But…I REALLY love the Pups action and what you caught of the Pups! Look at their expression in their ears and faces and tails! Pups get a freedom and joy from other pups that they cannot quite get from us! They speak the same language, share the same very keen interests, (when was the last time you smelled a tree or car tire?) and like to race as fast as they can when they get together!! Lucky you that you are in the middle of their life all the time!

  61. Dawn in NC says:

I keep checking back for new hints/clue/theories. If it’s a person, I suspect Pauline, or Sue’s niece as well! Can’t wait to get the next post!
