Winter’s a good time for fixing the RV!

Wednesday, December 28 (continued)

Midland Road, Blythe, California

Reggie and I board the Perfect Tow Vehicle and roll into Blythe.

We pull into Twin Palms Trailer Supply.  I don’t expect the refrigerator to have arrived.  Even so there’s that little bit of hope that springs eternally.

“Dometic told us it probably won’t be here until the 10th,” Karen tells me.

“The 10th?” I respond with surprise.

“It comes from Europe,” Chuck remarks.

“Europe?”   Gee, I’m a parrot today!

Patiently Chuck explains.

He speaks with the authority of someone who’s been in the RV service business for 37 years.  He outlines for me the history of the Dometic brand.

“It started in Europe, then they were in the U.S. for a while before the war . . . .”

Karen informs me that the model of my refrigerator was to be discontinued.  The demand convinced the company to start manufacturing it again.  (Karen had placed numerous, unsuccessful phone calls to different dealers trying to locate a fridge for me.)

That’s the reason for the delay.  We’re waiting for the fridge to be built.

Twin Palms Trailer Supply has an impressive inventory.

I brought one of two of the Best Little Trailer’s light covers.  The covers have holes in them.  You see, shortly after I picked up the BLT at the factory in Texas and before I replaced the incandescent bulbs with LEDs, the light covers became so hot that a touch of my finger put a hole in them.

For over five years I’ve been living with these two, ugly, light covers.

I never happened upon a store that had the same type as mine.  Karen walks down an aisle of their store and makes a match.  She rings up two of them for me at $3.79 each, plus tax.

LED bulbs do not give off as much heat as the incandescent.  Thus no more holes in light covers since I put nine of them in the BLT.   The investment in LEDs is worth it.  Mine have lasted a long time and they’re still going.

I wish Karen and Chuck a happy new year and join Reg in the PTV.

Our next stop is across town at the thrift store beside K-Mart.  I don’t have anything in mind to buy.  A quick browse inspires no purchases and I return to Reg.

“Since we’re not going to the library where you like to play in the grass, you get another treat.”

The word “treat” is part of Reggie’s vocabulary. Immediately he reacts. He puts his front paws on my seat and cranes his neck to place his face directly in front of mine.

“Yes, you heard me right . . . a treat!  How ’bout a burger at Carl’s Jr?  I have a feeling you’d like to eat like you mean it.”

Later, back at camp . . . . .

Camp hosts Netta and Jim drive up with their car horn a-honking.  They stop and get out, along with Max, their 12-year-old Boston terrier.

Reggie goes happy-crazy to have a canine visitor!

“Hi!  Have you got your new fridge yet?” Netta calls out, as they walk ’round to the mat side of the BLT.

She and Jim are back from the laundromat and drove over to our camp before going home.  Netta always has interesting things to say and she does so in such an engaging manner that time is forgotten. Her stories tumble out non-stop, like water splashing over rocks in a brook.  Jim is the quiet one, a perfect complement.

While we visit, Reggie and Max play hide n’ seek.

They duck around Netta’s ankles.  Soon Netta’s legs are tied up with Reggie’s tether!

Netta and Jim have their own situation involving repair.

The leveling jacks on their Class A won’t come down.  Netta tried a few “fixes” that she knows and still the jacks are being obstinate.

“Our rig is tilted. We’re walking uphill to get in and once we’re inside we’re walking downhill.  Jim pushed the button on the microwave and the door swung open and hit him in the face.”

Rather than locating some boards to re-position the rig onto them to level (It would take a lot of boards in their host campsite), they’re simply having the jacks fixed and be done with it.

“Well, we’d better get going.  The sun is setting already and we have laundry to unload.”

Inside the Best Little Trailer, I take off Reggie’s green jacket.

I can tell my boy is ready for bed.

“You had a good day, didn’t you.  A burger and then playtime with Max . . . . ”

Hope your new fridge will give you years of safe and good service, Sue!! How lovely it will be to have one again!! I am glad to have my teeny on in our apt…but how glad I will be to HOPEFULLY have a bigger one in the next stopping spot!! We do love our comforts!!

  2. Pam from Wisconsin says:

Always something satisfying about getting repair and fix it tasks done. Finding those light covers was good luck.

    • rvsueandcrew says:

That’s so true, Pam. Even the little things… YOU’RE IN THIRD PLACE TODAY!

Okay, everybody, I’m signing off… Reg and I are going into town again. Having no refrigeration is my excuse to let someone else cook for us. I’m going to see if Albertson’s deli has something tasty for us.

Go ahead and chat without me!

  3. Diane Fitzsimmons says:

Even without a new fridge, sounds like a good day! Treats and friends …

  4. Tammie Villanueva says:

    Hello Sue and Reggie
Fingers crossed the frig. Is ready on the 10th and I hope your having a good day with some nice weather…….cool and cloudy here in Henderson Nv.

  5. Geri, Florida panhandle! says:

WoW! I made it to the top 10! We are having a problem with our fridge too! Not as serious as yours but just as frustrating! The drain hose, where the meted ice goes down when defrosting has gne kerput! It literally fell apart in dried out pieces of plastic! Now trying to find a replacement hose has been an adventure for Chuck. We are still looking!
Good to see Reggie having a good play day! Radar and Tater are beginning to play together now that Tater feels good!
Take care and know we love you!

    • Karen in Pacific NW says:

Just head to a local marine supply store. They sell a wide variety of hose materials in lots of sizes. They sell it by the foot off of rolls.

    • rvsueandcrew says:

Happy to hear that Radar and Tater are playing together. Wow, you really changed Tater’s life to the better…. cleared up his skin allergy, fixed his farting, curing him of heart worms, gave him a new pal to play with and a warm bed at night, and a new home with a family of his own!

      Love you, too!

  6. Pauline in Mississippi says:

An imported refrig!!! WOW!! Hope it works great and lasts a long time! Reggie always has fun with his canine friends. Such a friendly, lovable little guy. Love the crane picture at the end.

Happy New Year to you and Reggie and all the blogerinos!!!
Sending lots of love and big hugs.

    • rvsueandcrew says:

Lots of love and big hugs to you, too, Pauline.

If you have a photo of one of your crochet hats, send it to me and I’ll post it!

Happy New Year to you and family!

  7. Diane J from GA says:

Love the photo of Reggie skipping along the desert with Max…..too cute!

  8. Jean in Southaven, MS says:

I am sending a Happy New Year to everyone. I have no computer at work and I am off until Tuesday so will not be reading any comments. Be safe everyone!

  9. Jean in Southaven, MS says:

I meant computer at home. I am at work.

  10. Ken in Queen Creek, AZ says:

Happy New Year! I am heading out to the Yuma area in a couple of weeks. I am thinking of taking our kayaks to Martinez Lake. Do you have any camping recommendations?

  11. Dawn in MI says:

I know you’ve gotten along without a fridge for awhile…but I’m sure it will be good to have one again. You’ll be able to boondock longer.

Happy New Year! Here’s to a wonderful 2017.

  12. Lee J in northern California says:

Hmm lunch out, what did you.have? My good friend A J came over today and we went to wally world. I needed a New shower hose spray thingies. Then we went to lunch. The local Black Bear restaurant has menu items that are a” little less”, a good choice for me and I still brought food home, my doggies love it when I bring them goodies! I haven’t bought ribs to cook at home in ages, I prefer to let someone else clean up the mess… but yum! Ribs,.mashed red potatoes and streamed veggies….a feast! The doggies got some of each thing and the cornmeal muffin, we were all happy! Oh, and green salad with fresh Salsa for dressing.

    • rvsueandcrew says:

That lunch sounds delicious, Lee J. Yes, “a feast!”

Reg and I didn’t do as well at the deli, but we’re full and happy with the baked chicken we had. I also had cole slaw.

  13. Sherry Waldrop says:

I may have missed the information, just wondering, did Casita not have a refrigerator? When an oak limb took out our awning buying from Casita was a good bit cheaper than buying from the awning company.

Wishing you a Happy New Year!

    Sherry Waldrop

    • rvsueandcrew says:

      Hi, Sherry,

The BLT had a refrigerator. It worked very well. All the bouncing around tore up the plastic parts, including the door.

OOh… Oak limb vs. awning. I didn’t know you could buy just an awning from Casita. Happy New Year to you, too!

      • Sherry Waldrop says:

I should have made myself clearer. I was wondering if you tried to purchase a replacement refrigerator from Casita. Then have it shipped to your repair location? We found Casita sells most of their parts.

When I called the awning was cheaper from Casita since they buy in bulk.

        • rvsueandcrew says:

I see now what you were saying, Sherry. I’ll wait two more weeks and then decide what to do, if anything, if the fridge hasn’t arrived by then.

  14. weather says:

“Even so there’s that little bit of hope that springs eternally.” It’s pretty wonderful to have a disposition that allows hope into ones thoughts, isn’t it? Your beautiful photos of the white egret seem to broadcast hope as this post appears on the screen. Birds symbolize a lot of things in different cultures, and in our hearts. Egret’s appearances, to me, have such a happy and hopeful connotation 🙂 !

Reggie had a good day, you have new light covers. Should you at some future time look back at this and other lovely posts, of your living a life you once only dreamed of, I imagine you’ll smile thinking there is a valid reason you always keep hope in your thoughts. What nice things Reggie and you enjoyed doing and getting Wednesday! As I type a custom made for you product is being finished and soon will be shipped from Europe. In bygone days such extravagant purchases were often beyond reach. I love knowing that’s no longer true for you.

    • rvsueandcrew says:

Such a kind sentiment, weather, that you’re happy I can purchase the extravagance of a European-made refrigerator. 🙂

I like that you see hope symbolized in the egret. It’s graceful simplicity of form and lightness in flight does uplift us like hope, doesn’t it.

I had fun taking those photos from the driver’s seat and through the passenger window. The egret was walking along a canal at the edge of the green field. I took the first photo and then the egret flew a short distance, still along the canal and parallel to the road. I left the PTV in drive and, taking my foot off the brake, rolled slowly along with the egret. It landed, then flew again. I rolled along with it. The third time it landed and then lifted into flight, I caught the action (2nd photo). The last photo was cropped out of the 2nd photo.

It’s pretty darn difficult to take a bad pic of an egret or heron!

I imagine the swans on your lake are a picture of gracefulness, too.

  15. Ray says:

    Love the Great Egret photos.

  16. R. (Yucca Valley, CA) says:

5th, sixth or seventh? This never happened before. Hi RvSue

  17. Laura - Illinois says:

Just curious, do you know how long a campground host commits to? I am assuming they get free rent in return for light duties? I think it might be interesting to do! Also it would be interesting talking to camp hosts since they know the ins and outs and might be helpful for certain sites… thanks for your blog, it really helps me and makes me even more determined to do this when it is time for me to retire… not too much longer! I just hope my back and hips can hold out a few more years!

  18. Linda & the 4 M's in Carmichael, CA says:

Wow I’m having fridge problems too. Mine freezes everything. Needs a new thermostat. I might just go with an ice chest since my fridge would be well suited for storing ice. I’m heading to Indio next week. I’ll wave in your direction when I’m nearby. Stay warm.

    • rvsueandcrew says:

Hi, Linda . . . .Your fridge repair might not be very costly. For those who don’t know, the town of Indio is on the northwest end of the Salton Sea. Safe travels next week!

  19. Cinandjules (da zone) says:

Wow! I love your new header photo!

A brand new fridge! Something tells me…you’ve adapted quite nicely without it. Kind of like boondocking and not having running water!

What time do you normally go to bed? Forgot to mention, Reg man’s sister baytril photo bomb…that his reflection in the side mirror was precious!

LED light use less…but do you find them too bright? Or does the light covers make them “soft”.

Have a great evening! Stay warm and dry if that is the case!

    • rvsueandcrew says:

      Hi, Cinandjules,

Thanks re the header photo. That was taken last week from our campsite.

What time do I go to bed? In summer when the days are long, I go to bed around 9:30 or 10, and then read for a while before nodding off. Up at 5 to 6 a.m. In winter my sleep pattern is all messed up. Today I didn’t take a nap so Reggie and I fell asleep around 6 p.m. and slept for an hour. This will have me awake until 10 or thereabouts. I’ll wake up again around 3 a.m., lie awake for an hour or two, fall asleep, and get up late, like 8 a.m. Ask a simple question and look what you get! Haha!

No matter what time of year I require a LOT of sleep. Always been that way.

About the brightness of LEDs… It’s important to buy the “warm white” kind which are meant for interior lighting and are “soft”. The covers help, too. I have one of the “bright white” ones in the outside fixture by the door.

      Good night, sleep well!

    • Mick'nTN says:

A little more about LED’s and shades of white. The shades are measured in degrees Kelvin (°K). I believe this relates to the shade emitted by tungsten as it is heated. Incandescent bulbs have a color temperature of about 2700 °K and give off a soft, slightly yellow shade of white. Sunlight is around 6000 °K and is a harsh, bright white. LED’s can be found with color temperatures over this range, from below 3000 °K to above 6000 °K. It is thought that the higher color temperatures are more stimulating while the lower temps are more relaxing. I like 4000 °K for reading and 5000 °K for my workshop … but don’t let me tell you what ‘K’ to use. 🙂

  20. Hi! RVSue,
For over two years I’ve been living with my, ugly, convex belly. My wife asks me sometimes “Do you become pregnant?” I have to answer “Maybe, Twins” lol

BTW, AT A GLANCE, I felt something was wrong in your prior post yesterday. Not Bridget seen in your pictures. And I notice your pull-down menu “About RVSue and Crew.” So sorry for your loss, RVSue. R.I.P Bridget, finally be with Spike in heaven.

I’m catching up your posts from newer one to older. It must be so hard to me to read your post about the day of …

    • rvsueandcrew says:

Thank you for your kind words regarding the passing of Bridget. Our last days together were loving and bittersweet. I will always miss her and Spike but it is a comfort knowing they’re together now.

      Fuji-maru pregnant! You’re funny! 🙂

  21. Kevin in CO says:

Winter is the time I work on my camper projects, but then, I do that in the summer and spring and fall. Some doctors might use terms like ocd, whatever that means. 😉

I would be worried about that frig order, if waiting for mfg in another country and all the shipping complications. It takes me a month to get medications from the UK. I would be out measuring the opening and looking for a compatible option, just in case. IMHO.

Hope all works out on your order.

    • rvsueandcrew says:

      Hi, Kevin,

There’s no going back on the refrigerator order. I already paid for it. It was ordered on Dec. 14 so it probably will be a month, like you say, by the time I get it. Fortunately we’re camped in a place where we can stay long-term and where we’re content. I’m good at waiting. It doesn’t take much effort. 🙂

Good luck with your winter projects!

      • Kevin in CO says:

Thanks. Winter projects are wrapping up, and next week I will start looking for a break in the weather. Heading for warm weather and a couple months of desert camping, walks, and sunsets. Wish I could leave now.

        Take care Sue and Reg.

  22. Wow Sue, they have to build the fridge, wow a well known company like Domestic should always have a back up with in a 1/8 of a inch all the way around replacement or something like that,,jee wizz ,what where they thinking,,, well it started raining here bout 3 pm and now it’s a little cold,,,,, we are still camped at the 14 day spot and forgot to get the Huggies Wipes, but i have enough to last till after the festivities of the New year turn over,,,,, Scott got a hold of me and we’ll be talkin next week,, that’s amazing that a friend of mine from years gone by just happened to read Your Blog and knew me by ol Three Feathers and we hadn’t heard from each other since 1999, that is Fantastic!!! ,,,,,,, Sue,, have a safe weekend and give Reggieman a huge hug from us and HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR,,,,,,, 👣🐾

  23. Barbara (Nashville) says:

I just love seeing Reggie playing with the other dogs. Sure wish Angel was like that, Gosh she is so bossy and territorial. She starts out okay then give the other dogs holy heck for being in her space, which takes in the whole neighborhood.

The egret is beautiful. We saw one one down at our lake several weeks ago, but not since. The Great Blue Heron is back, though. Some guy caught a clam down there. Would love to know how that got in there. The thing looked like a big rock more than a clam. It was pretty amusing watching the guy trying to get his hook out of it.

Hope you have a wonderful New Year, in case we don’t get a new post tomorrow.

    • rvsueandcrew says:

      Good morning, Barbara,

Blue herons are graceful, too. Always fun to photograph because they hold their pose. 🙂

I’ve heard of fresh water clams but I didn’t know they could be as big as a rock. Interesting!

Angel finally has territory of her own and she’s going to protect it and you. Bless her heart. I understand it’s annoying for you though.

Happy New Year to you, too, Barbara. 2017 is going to be easier for you!

  24. AZ Jim says:

I’m ridin along Missy. I guess I don’t have that much to say though. I enjoyed the post and little Reggie’s picture as usual. We were together on Christmas, Detta and I, our Grandkids have their own families and things to do so we didn’t see them. I read your comment on the last posts comment section where you discussed the difference between being alone and being lonely. There is a difference, I agree. You know in your case you are never alone anyhow, you have the sweetest little companion anyone could have in Reggie. AND you have US!!!!! *Hug*

    • rvsueandcrew says:

You’re right, Jim. Having you and all the blogorinos with us wherever we go is a big part of the life I enjoy. You’re also right about me having “the sweetest little companion anyone could have.” Reggie is precious. Gosh, he’s so cute when he wakes up in the morning it almost hurts. Haha!

You and Detta have a great day!

  25. Cynthia from San Clemente says:

Oh goodness, you had me giggling at your parrot talk! I have felt like that and probably spoken like that before … when someone is telling me something that seems rather improbable. I’m so glad Reggie got to have a Carl’s Jr. hamburger – I hope it was a bacon cheeseburger but I’m guessing you were probably more prudent 🙂 I worked in Carl’s corporate office decades ago – he was truly a kind, generous man who cared very much about his employees and his products.

In that last photo of Reggie running with the Boston terrier, I can’t see his tether. Is he able to run around without it now?

    • rvsueandcrew says:

      Good morning, Cynthia,

Remember the Rule of Canine Repeats… If I gave Reggie a bacon cheeseburger, he’d ALWAYS have to get a bacon cheeseburger. 🙂 As it is he thinks a plain beef patty is the best thing ever!

Reggie is on his tether in that photo. It’s very thin and green. We were out walking yesterday and someone started shooting a gun far off somewhere. Well, sounds carry far in the desert and the shot startled Reggie so much it threw him into a panic. He ran to the end of his tether, turned and ran to the end another way, again and again. When I finally caught him, his little body was trembling. I was very glad I had him on his tether because in his panic he ran AWAY from me, not to me. I imagine he would’ve run and run and run until long out of sight and totally confused. . . .

      • Cynthia from San Clemente says:

Poor baby, I hate to think of what happened to him that made him so fearful of gunshots. Thank God you recognize his fears and protect him.

I hope you, Reggie and all the blogorinos have a truly blessed 2017!

        • rvsueandcrew says:

Thank you, Cynthia. I wish you many blessings, too, during the new year. I hope you will continue riding with us!

As for Reggie’s reaction to gunshots (or any sharp noise), the more I learn about chihuahuas, the more I think that reaction is typical of the breed, not something that’s learned. He reacts the same way if something falls off the counter or, to a lesser degree, if a door slams.

  26. Lorne Green says:

Happy New Year to you and Reggie!!!!

  27. Beth and Rosie, near Congress, AZ says:

    Hi Sue,
Just wanted to get a note out to ApplegirlNY that I left a reply for her in your last post but it’s way near the bottom of all the posts!

So if you’re reading this ApplegirlNY please go to RVSue’s last post and check what I wrote to you.

Thanks RVSue for sharing your blog space with us Blogorino’s! I’ve received encouragement from you and your followers. I appreciate all the support of your Blogorino’s and the support from you, too!

    With sincere gratitude,
    ~Beth

    • rvsueandcrew says:

You’re welcome, Beth, and Happy New Year to you, too!

    • rvsueandcrew says:

You’re very welcome, Beth. You have blessed this blog with your open and honest comments about your life. Thank you for enriching us with your presence. I wish you and Rosie a great 2017!

  28. Beth and Rosie, near Congress, AZ says:

Now how’d that happen? Weird! It posted twice!?! Maybe it’s me and I goofed up!

    Sorry if I posted twice, I didn’t think I did! 🙄

  29. Rover Ronda (WA) says:

    Hi Sue n crew,
Just checking in. I am a fan of the comments section been missing them all lately not just the last post. Soon I’ll be back to reading the wise n entertaining comments you n your blogorinos always share. Until then maybe I’ll just say hi so you know I’m still out here.

    • rvsueandcrew says:

      Hi, Ronda,

That’s thoughtful of you to at least let us know that you’re still reading. I hope all is well with you and you’re enjoying the holiday season. See you next year!

  30. Sue CleanerGreenerVegas says:

Well it’s New Year’s Eve day in Hutchinson, Kansas. Missing my good friend Chuck Riley who passed this year. And a shout out to Bridget….many Rock Stars died in 2016, but you are our favorite star with the most adoring fan club!!! Keep on Smilin and Ridin, BridgeeBaby

    • rvsueandcrew says:

I’m sorry you lost your good friend this year, Sue.

Thank you for the image you gave me of Bridget cruising around heaven in her car. 🙂

  31. A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! RVSue, Reggie and blogorinos!

Japan rings out the Old Year and rings in the New Year 2017 now, earlier than the US. 🙂

This link is my New Year’s card

  32. Barb from Hoquiam! says:

    Hmmm…
I wonder what the New Year will bring to RV Sue and the Regginator? Wonder who will join them on the open road searching for the BEST in boondocks? Wonder if the fridge will live up to the wait… Wonder if …

    Can’t wait!
Have a PEACEFUL and HAPPY New Year!

You can find me hiding from the fireworks. 🙂 I hate them. Pretty, but way over my PTSD threshhold!

Hugs from a Chilly Willy Hoquiam (snow in forecast!)
    Barb

    • rvsueandcrew says:

Cute beginning to your comment, Barb! You really know how to set up a cliffhanger! 🙂

Whenever I hear fireworks and gunshots, my heart goes out to all the birds and animals who are terrified and upset by the noise. I admit I don’t think of the people who suffer, too. I appreciate the reminder.

Wishing you peace and quiet as the new year arrives! Bundle up and keep warm, Barbara, and thank you for hugging me throughout another year. 🙂

      • Barb from Hoquiam! says:

Thank YOU for the respite you allow me… showing up on so many of ‘those days’ to warm my heart.

        Hugs from Hoquiam! Always!
        Barb

  33. It wouldn’t be “adventure” if some things didn’t go wrong!

Good move on LEDs. I replaced all of my incandescent and one of my florescent lights with LEDs (LED strip in the case of the florescent). More light, less heat, and far less battery load!)

You are missing out on the cold up here in the PNW. We’re scheduled for below zero temps (at night) next week (again!). Even Puget Sound is supposed to get into the teens!!!!

Where is global warming when you need it? (Australia, probably…)

Love your photos. When (my) Sue’s mom passed last April (I miss her terribly… she was my Mom for longer than my own mother was my mom) I discovered that she had a Lumix camera. Since Sue and her two siblings were dividing up stuff before several big yard sales, I put the Lumix in our pile. I remembered that you had one and what a great camera it is.

However, it turned out that her Lumix was a couple of versions earlier than yours. Still a good camera (with more doodads on it that I can possibly learn) but without that amazing telephoto lens yours has. (Your photos of wildlife – like the egret in your most recent post – are awesome!)

So it’s not quite as good… I’ll probably get a later version before we head out (in 2017 or 2018, depending on what happens to Social Security and the stock market and real estate market).

    Stay safe.

    Craig in Moses Lake (K7EXJ)

    • rvsueandcrew says:

Great hearing from you, Craig. I love it when readers write like we’re having a conversation. It’s like I get a blog post to read, too!

My condolences to you and Sue on the passing of your Mom. Even though it’s been several months, the feeling of loss lingers. She must have been a good person for you to feel as close as a “real” son.

Several new cameras are on the market in the price range of my Panasonic Lumix and they look good, too. You’re right about the zoom on mine. It does a great job. Most of my wildlife photos are taken at a distance and always without a tripod. (BTW, thanks for the “awesome” compliment!). I like that I have 60X zoom on a camera that I can wear hanging from my neck. In other words it isn’t a small cannon with a big, honking lens hanging out.

Anyway…. It’s the 60X lens and excellent image stabilization that works for me. You know to do research online before buying. Good luck finding the right camera and with those money things you mentioned!

      Stay warm, Craig…

  34. Piper (Virginia) says:

Reggie is such a happy little boy! He fits right in with your lifestyle. Love reading your blog. Happy New Year to you and Reggie!

Hi sue and crew! Drove thru Blythe fri 12/30 on my way back to LA from Arizona. Thought of you. I saw what looked like a nice little boondock area, south of the I-10, but it was on the Arizona side of the border, maybe 0 or 20 miles from it. Lots of trailers/campers, lots of space betweem them also. I thought, wouldn’t it be fun to drive around up there and see if i can spot your rig. Then, i thought, no, sue would likely hate the idea! And so would i if i were her. So i kept on moving, i later realized that you were on california side anyway.
So just wondering if you are familiar with that camping area. Hope you and Reggie had a peaceful and lovely New Year’s Eve!

      Hi, Nancy,

I think you saw the Dome Rock camping area. It’s in AZ, west of Quartzsite, and south of the interstate. We camped there a couple of times, in January 2012 and November 2013. It’s BLM, free, 14-day limit. It’s a good place to camp, especially if you want the convenience and activities of Big Q, and/or easy on-and-off the interstate. We don’t go there any more, too visible for us.

Thank you, Nancy, for respecting our privacy. You have a wonderful 2017!

Thanks sue! That is it! I remember seeing the dome rock road exit. I will be buying a trailer this year. Likely a t@b model with bathroom, for adventures part time with my pups. So i am keeping an eye out for sites. I would never have invaded your privacy btw. Just wanted to see if i could “find” you. But then even that seemed kinda weird to my own self, like, gee, what am i, a stalker? No, certainly not! I do love your posts and can’t wait til i am out there having some adventures of my own.

It will be fun hearing about your new camper when you find her and also about the places you go. I hope you will share your adventures with us, Nancy.
