Last preparations for tomorrow’s launch

First I want to say thanks to all the well-wishers!

I’m amazed at the interest my little life is getting. Thank you for all the helpful advice and your enthusiastic words of encouragement!

I’ve been running errands and clearing out this house, non-stop, since dawn,, and it is now moving toward 7 p.m.  I grabbed a coffee and bowl of grits (good o’ Georgia grits, one last time!) at about 9 this morning on my way to the bank.  I went into high gear once I was out of the bank, so much so that I forgot lunch until 4:30!  It’s a wonder I didn’t have another one of my hit-the-deck “incidents!”

The crew is getting excited, too!

Every trip from the house to the PTV, carrying a load of stuff, the crew is on my heels … out the door, back in the door, out the door, back in the door . . .

I have one more trip to my beloved, local WalMart (!), a load or two of laundry, some more packing (before dark), and a final inspection of the house.  I did manage to squeeze in a two-hour trip this afternoon to pick up my Senior Pass for discount camping. . . my new prized possession!

At some point soon I’m going to drop.

I can feel it coming.  What doesn’t get done will have to wait until the morning.  I hate leaving on a trip in mid-morning or later.  It makes me feel like I’m late all day, even though there’s no “late” to it.  However, there’s no turning back on this trip, so I’d better make sure I have everything in the PTV, my mother load.

Wave the flags!  Strike up the brass band!  My waiting is finally over!

Sue, I very well remember the day my partner and I took off as full-time RVers… July 2, 2003… We traveled part of the US and part of Canada and then headed south to Panama…took us 10 months to go there and back to the US again.

Good luck, enjoy every moment (even the difficult ones)…come visit in the Yucatan where we finally landed…I have lots of boon docking room.

      Kathe…

You sound familiar. I think I read your blog? You have a beautiful place in the Yucatan, if you are the person I’m thinking of.

Hey, who knows where I’ll end up! Thanks for sending me good luck …

I’m adding this later…. I just remembered where I’ve seen your name…. on Tioga George’s forum!

I KNEW you would be really busy today. The Senior Pass is well worth the $10 it costs. You’ll make that back in savings the two nights at Oak Park. It truly IS a prized possession. It’s a reward for TOP skills, otherwise known as Time On the Planet.

Take your time. Pauline won’t mind and the only schedule you’re on is to be in Rice by 8:00 Tuesday morning. THEN the FUN begins.

  5. Just like a lot of full-timers, we have flashbacks of our first launch. If you achieve half the excitement, anticipation, and pure joy, you will not regret your decision. I believe that only a few have the courage to live this lifestyle.

Again, the best to Sue and the Canine Crew!

  6. Mick says:

Google says 385 miles, 7 hours and 2 minutes driving time. Be safe, Good luck.

    • rvsueandcrew says:

      Hello, Mick!

Google must be measuring how the crow flies. Mapquest says it’s closer to 500 miles, probably because I’m not taking the same route the last leg of the trip. Also I’m on the far side of Athens which adds about 20 miles.

      Thanks for sending me luck!

  7. rvsueandcrew says:

Thank you for your good wishes!

  8. Reine says:

Sending prayers for a RESTFUL sleep. To quote an old adage, Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life – and what a fun and exciting day it will be.

  9. Carla says:

Here’s to hoping you rest well tonight! Have fun, be careful and know we’ll be thinking of you … and waiting for your next adventure!

  10. Jack says:

You might consider going commando the first few dayz, more of a freedom feeling eh? Just a thought (lol). Jack

  11. Greg and Jean says:

    Tick tock….tick tock……..hope you are sleeping…..lol

  12. Your big departure day is here – savor all the little things, and look forward to the adventure! Bon Voyage!!

  13. Bob (aka stude53) says:

    Bon Voyage!

That Senior Pass is wonderful I have used the heck out of mine like today I got into Grand Canyon NP for free and I am camped here at the park for half price $6.00, wow that’s a deal ! It is well worth the small price you pay for it.
